Notes & Combos
Is this the best variant of Ryzeal? No. But, it is the most satisfying to play? Absolutely not. Playing two XYZ monsters that use their good effect during only your MP or opponent's BP is just really funny.
Ideal turn: get 2 Sharis (Painful Decision/Vepartu/Small World), summon Uni xyz, pivot into Ryzeal, end on Uni, Duo Drive, Deto, Ragna. Small World into Maxx C via Ext using leftovers.
Three factors led me to this specific deck:
-
- From experience, sometimes Ryzeal dies to a single interaction because they brick on too many handtraps. Supplementing them with an archetype that provides a buffer or hand trap magnet seemed good.
-
- I don't have the UR dust to get the Tachyon cards and wanted an engine with just SRs
-
- I am Japanese. Sushi.
Changes with deck over time: I played Shirauo (MD + ED) and Catch of the Day until D2. The latter is a decent card to draw; the former felt bad. I would start with Shari Red into Shirauo, search COTD, and they would declare Shirauo 90% of the time, and COTD would not add anything. I also refused to play a second Shirauo because it makes the deck bricker. This was replaced by Imperm, Tac, and Duo Drive 2.
Different life choices I would make if I could redo: a) get Tachyons and b) add the Primite engine. Most GOOD lists have these. Unfortunately my UR dust count is single digits. For ED space, the Utopics did next to nothing. Zeus also didn't come up often. Finally, Sword #3 would be nice. Ikura surprisingly can't be cut because you need a rank 4 Suship if you stumble into 2 Sharis after you're 4 locked.
