Notes & Combos
Just testing a bit this month (thank you to the person that suggested I try this). I'll say it right now; I don't like cutting Selene for Shooting Riser, but as Bystial decks slowly phase out in favor of Labrynth being the new toy of the month, I'm experimenting a bit with another set of Don payoffs.
Typical endboard consists of: Master Plan + Secret Village lock, Baronne de Fleur, SPYRAL Sleeper, Herald of the Arc Light, 2400 Apollousa and Snow+Rescue in GY. I still prefer boards with Dragster or Gryphon, and I think at the moment the Gryphon board is the best while the Dragster board is the easiest to get into with minimal resources. But this was still a fun experiment and climb and Snow is broken ofc!
Perks of this build:
- Snow in gy sent off Riser is really nice. Also it's an additional spellcaster in case Master Plan is outed from the field.
- If you already have combo and/or Village in hand with Destrudo access, you can turbo out an early Baronne before the 5th summon with a lvl3 Riser and Master Plan. This enables you to set up a monster an an omni negate before the Don portion of your combo, much like the Dragster build where you can set up Dragster + Apo to counter the patient Imperm. Turboing Baronne going 2nd is naturally also good.
- AFD being lvl 7 can also become Synchro material for Baronne, saving you an additional rescue that would be used to loop MP.
Cons:
- Extra Deck space becomes even tighter than before and borders on an overreliance of the synchro portion of the combo. It is the biggest issue to me and why I don't 100% endorse this.
- Cutting Selene means burning into your resources more, and loses you access to enabling combo off any 2 bodies and a spellcaster. It also means losing your backup plan against Bystials in some cases. Swapping out for Phoenix or Accesscode are other options but I'm less likely to do that.
- Another garnet in the form of Snow is not great. Super Agent can be sent in place of Snow for Riser or you can just send anything else to level modulate as needed, but having Snow on top of Jet/O-lion means you're more likely to draw another card you may not want to see in your opening hand, and in most cases it's better to just play Appointer.
Playing the 1 Crossout because I'm on 3 Maxx "C" in a 60C deck and I wanted more outs to the roach. If you cut the C, remove Crossout as well as it otherwise is not worth running.
