Notes & Combos
With the release of the VSK9 deck, the value of Mulcharmy Purulia has increased significantly in the current meta. Because of this shift, the effectiveness of Nibiru and Red Reboot has decreased, so I decided to include only one copy of each. I also run two copies of Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit, as it is extremely effective at countering both Yummy and K9-ØØ Lupis.
Additionally, I chose to include Raigeki, since many decks in the current format lack protection against destruction effects. This allows Gem-Knights to safely clear boards and transition into their OTK plays.
There are situations where players chain Forbidden Droplet to Ultimate Slayer, but this is generally not recommended if you do not have a monster in your hand. Since Ultimate Slayer only prevents monster effects from being chained, stronger board-breaking combinations include plays such as Lightning Storm + Forbidden Droplet, Heavy Storm + Forbidden Droplet, or Heavy Storm + Forbidden Droplet + Red Reboot.
When playing against Yummy, it is usually better to use Nibiru, the Primal Being on Herald of the Arc Light to force out its effect in advance.
After clearing the opponent’s field, it is important to use Nepyrim to bait out hand traps. When resolving Nepyrim, I usually search Quartz to gain access to Brilliant Fusion, which serves as one of the deck’s primary combo starters.
If the opponent controls no monsters, I search Hollowcore using Dispersion and send Gem-Knight Fusion to the Graveyard. From there, the main goal is to either search Dispersion again with Phantom Quartz to continue Fusion Summoning, or to use Phantom Quartz’s second effect to summon Diamond Dispersion.
Since monsters summoned by Phantom Quartz’s second effect cannot attack directly, Diamond Dispersion is typically summoned as a follow-up play. However, this can also be used flexibly by sending Ruby to the Graveyard to increase attack power, or by summoning Gem-Knight Lady Rose Diamond to set up destruction triggers while preserving Hollowcore in the Graveyard for later use.
If resources allow, the primary win condition is summoning Gem-Knight Master Diamond and banishing Topaz to push for lethal damage.
Since Hollowcore can only activate while you control a Fusion Monster, it is generally recommended to use Scatter Fusion in advance to send it to the Graveyard before summoning Diamond Dispersion.
