Notes & Combos

I built Odion but I didn't like the pure counter-trap build I tried at first so I combined it with one of my favorite decks instead, and this is the result.

This deck has its issues but I really enjoy playing it all the same and I've been on it for the past two months. The endboard varies a lot depending on what you draw and includes all kinds of different effects which leads to varied games with a lot of interesting decisions on when to use what kind of interaction. The grind game is solid and a lot of decks find the backrow heavy playstyle difficult to deal with. It's also very easy to play without giving any draws to Maxx "C" and Mulcharmys which I like a lot.

The deck definitely struggles going second, but Super Polymerization, Triple Tactics Talent and the Dominus traps clutch it out often enough. Plus, sometimes you can just set 5 and pass and the opponent might not actually have any quick effect to deal with that immediately. There's also some obvious tension between both engines wanting the normal summon and the field spell zone for themselves. In practice it's not that big of a deal, as depending on the situation it's usually clear which normal summon is better and which field spell is better.

This build is not super optimized or anything, you can adjust the ratios to be more or less Argostars/Odion heavy in whichever way you like and change out some of the non-engine and it'll probably be fine. For example, I only have 2 The Man With the Mark and 1 Divine Serpent Apophis. I haven't felt the need to craft more, but the deck could be better if I did. Or not.

Why no Merciless Scorpion of Serket & Temple of the Kings? I tried it but I really didn't like how Temple hogs one of your S/T zones for the entire game after placing it. Being able to activate a trap immediately, while obviously good, also didn't feel quite as strong as I thought it would.

In conclusion, Argostars best deck even in 2026
