Notes & Combos
Blind 2nd Pure Ryu-ge!
I had played this deck a bit before in OCG format and was looking forward to it getting ported over to Master Duel!
First couple notes:
- The deck is very flexible in what you can play it with, and playing it pure was just because I wanted to see what these cards alone could do!
- There are quite a few cards you DON'T want to draw, and multiple that you don't want to draw in combination, so going over 40 (in this case 51) is very much okay
- The field spell by itself is not full combo without a couple other specific bricks in the deck which I did not want to include, so I only run 1 of the field spell
Basic gameplay overview
- The Ryuge cards put out a huge amount of damage and many bodies with very few special summons, so if you can clear the board and have access to your ritual monster, you're very likely killing them
- The field spell is the heart of the deck but doesn't work without the ritual monster in the Extra, so the Mistva is the most important card to resolve.
- You can insulate Mistva and the field spell by having Anva (the other pend monster) in your other pend zone
- Anva protects on RESOLUTION which is very very powerful (think Hugin protection)
- You can include Diviner of the Herald as 3 starters (ways to get to Mistva)
- However, I am running Golem as a breaker and don't own Herald so I elected to have no Normal Summon in this deck
- The extra deck is mostly just utility except Varudras which you can very consistently summon
- Starters:
- Mistva x3
- Ryu-Ge Rising x3
- Extra Foolish (send herald, get Mistva) x3
- Melody of Awakening Dragon x3 (This card is weak to ash BUT also gets you Anva to protect your plays)
Bricking
The most infamous part of this deck:
- The field spell MUST add/send/banish a wyrm/dino/sea serpent on activation, so if all of any of those 3 types are in your hand YOU CANNOT ACTIVATE
- The Dino can shuffle itself back into the deck so you can always add...unless you also open the Dino continous spell. This is why I include 1 copy of Dogoran as another Dino and breaker
- The second effect of the field spell is more lenient:
- You must summon a Ryu-Ge of different types from all 3 locations BUT you can also summon Anva so you rarely get locked out of the effect
- The continous spells and traps are all very searchable and not particularly helpful to draw playing into a full board
Deck can be iffy but it's a ton of fun and can be very powerful!
