Notes & Combos
Thunder Dragon best deck let's go ! Took us a while but we got there. Just to be transparent, I didn't play this deck exclusively all the way up to Master I but switched on and off with Pure Tenpai as well. Still, the deck does deliver and I really wanted to share it with you guys.
This build is based on Devon Scarpella's Thunder Dragon deck profile he got 3rd place with at Alaska Regional last year : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSbD0YwsIr0
As a good old fashioned crazy pile combo deck, it's not linear and will take time to learn (especially under time pressure). Obviously, that's the fun part !
Here is the overall priority order you should follow when comboing :
-
Saryuja (gives you access to your other engines and allows you to extend by special summoning a body)
-
Pisty/Trishula (gives you access to Thunder Engine if needed, hits ennemy's Extra Deck, sets up for Hieratic Seal)
-
Hieratic Seal ( strong endboard piece, plays around Nibiru, may allow you to extend by tributing over it)
-
Colossus/Masquerena/Rank 8 (Harbinger, Photon Lord, Sky Prisons are cards you could play depending on the meta and your own preferences)
-
Throughout these steps, you will be handlooping your opponent with Diabolos/Levianeer/TTT, extending with Horus engine and Zombie Vampire if available. The sooner you can handloop the better since you're forcing your opponent to react and burn his ressources early.
TECH OPTIONS (going second) : Dingirsu, Hieratic Overlord, Archnemeses Eschatos, Triple Tactics Thrust, Fuwalos, Nibiru, Imperm, Crossout...
TECH OPTIONS (going first) : Danger monsters to dig into your deck, spam the board and make Saryuja more easily, Branded Beast so you can have an additional interruption with your Bystials under MaxC/Fuwalos, Rank 8 toolbox (Harbinger, Photon Lord, Sky Prison)
FINAL NOTES : Obviously Lancea Meta doesn't help but Thunder Dragons can still hold their own until the day we shine once more. I hope you guys have fun with this build.
