Notes & Combos
Things you will learn playing Predaplant:
- This deck will die if Superpoly or Instant fusion gets banned
- Darlingtonia will be in 50% of your hands for some reason
- Drawing cards is really good
- Theres a lot of monsters that cant be used as fusion material.
It took a lot of experimentation to find a decklist I was happy with, and it involved cutting a lot of what people typically ran in Predaplant. Ultimately my goal was to make a deck that maximized the draw potential of Fusion Subsitute and could play low in the case of Mulcharmies. Here are the reasons I am running or not running certain oddballs:
- The HEROs... One of my goals was maximizing Superpoly's consistency. Shining Flare really surprised me with its potency. Its materials are great in a fusion cup but even outside it, I'd run it anyway for its ability to recycle resources and draw you into handtraps.
- Thrust... I ran this package beacuse there is a LOT of backrow decks such as Man, Dinomorphia, and Burn attempting to take advantage of self damage decks (like us). If you don't want to run it, I'd run Dominus Spark for even more handtrap consistency.
- Harmonic Synchro Fusion... is like a high risk but high reward Super Duper Poly. Instead of using Bal + Lilizard to make Clear Wing then using SDP to summon Fata, you use HSF to summon Fata and Clear Wing then fuse them with Fusion Subsitute. You can just not use it if your opponent is toggled on and your afraid to get hit by Dominus Impulse. This frees up SDP to be used elsewhere.
- Chimerafflesia... a problem early versions of the deck had was, if we are interupted, we might not have enough cards in hand to discard for Droplet and Super Poly. 'Fflesia served as crutial refill that was very convinient with its type, attribute, and level.
Where Scorpio? Truth be told, the card felt REALLY bad. You only ever want to discard Byblisp or Darlingtonia. Its bricky due to how many spell/traps you want to run (The polys, board breakers like Droplet/Fallen, Dominus cards), it takes our normal summon, and it feels especially bad if it gets negated.
I did not feel like going through Scoprio was worth it for the extra body as opposed to summoned Darlingtonia straight off Ambulomelides. The one extra body we leave on field after ending on Wing Dragon + Predapower can serve as fodder for Bal Teah's graveyard effect or awkward Super Poly situations.
Ultra Poly is rly awkward with the amount of cheating we do with Fata/SDP/HSM so it got cut too.
