Notes & Combos

I've been really enjoying Radiant Typhoon so I wanted to upload my build here. This is definitely one of my favorite archetypes they've released in a while and would recommend to anyone who likes decks with shorter combos and more grindy control oriented gameplay, where it's not always clear what cards to activate in what order, what to search when etc. Out of the decks I've played it feels most similar to pure Fire King which is another one of my all time favorites.

This version of the deck is nothing too revolutionary, the main difference from most is the very low number of handtraps. Going second has still been surprisingly viable, as you have extremely good access to Mystical Space Typhoon and can easily clear out their spells and traps while the rest of your cards tackle the monsters.

The toughest matchups tend to be against big negate boards that just don't let you play. You're often reliant on drawing Maxx "C", Fuwalos, Super Polymerization or Droplet against decks like that, though Shiina can also turn games around if they can't negate a monster effect in the hand. On the flipside stun is usually a free win unless you get really unlucky, which is nice.

I'm very satisfied with this build, but there are some changes you could make for sure. A third Fuwalos instead of a second Manifestation, Ascendance or Meghala is an option. I summoned Totem Bird very rarely, and Earth Golem and Dragostapelia were rarely needed. Any one of those could be replaced for World Chalice Guardragon Almarduke, a third Varuroon, or something else. Everything else in the Extra Deck came up often enough that I wouldn't want to cut them.

I don't have any set combo I follow going first, as the routes depend on what you open with. The most important goal of course is to summon Varuroon and use both of its effects to get the trap online. Other things you'll want to do are summoning Krosea for the extremely strong search effect, summoning Meghala as you can then use the summon effect both turn 1 and turn 2, and finally searching as many MSTs as you can while not interfering with the other goals.
