Notes & Combos
What a tough season! Got into Diamond early on, but de-ranked from D3 - D5 countless times before the final push.
This is a going second deck. It worked really well going against established boards of maybe 1 or 2 negates/boss monsters, but the meta's changed and I've been seeing a lot less of that (especially with the rise of Reactive Decks like Branded and the boost to Floow with their new quickplay). These were tough match-ups.
So that's where the new line of spells come into play. I've got to give a nod to the other 8-Axis player, Yee, for the smart deck-building!
After baiting through interactions, Mind Control or TTT were incredible at stealing games. There's a surprising number of Level 8 monsters in the bad match-ups above (e.g. Raiza in Floow, essentially all fusion monsters in Branded).
Most games would either end with an OTK through Draglubion > Numeron or through some sort of 4-material Zeus control (from Dingirsu/Lancelot > Pain Gainer > Seven Sins >Zeus).
Here are some useful interactions/tips to keep in mind:
- Going into Dingirsu, more often than not, would bait the Impermanence
- Don't forget that Pain Gainer has a secondary effect of destroying everything with lower defense than it (typically Kaijus)
- Any monster taken with TTT or Mind Control can be used for Zombie Vampire
- Lancelot attack directly > pop a monster > Pain Gainer > Seven Sins > Zeus came up a lot
