Notes & Combos
Big shout-out to saint on YouTube and MDM for the decklist. Thanks to him, I'm a new SPYRAL fan! You can find his list here: (https://www.masterduelmeta.com/top-decks/win-streaks/february-2023/spyral/saint/xvhO-)
I made some minor adjustments to suit my tastes. For combos on how to play this deck, check out saint's video: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvJqN8UK444)
Here's a primer for those new to SPYRAL Auroradon. Going first, this deck has probably the strongest endboard of any non-FTK deck in the entire game so far. At the end of your full combo going first, you get:
- To stack your opponent's next three draws
- To look at your opponent's hand and discard one
- 4x monster negates from a four-material Apollousa
- Either a Sphere Kuriboh effect or on-field monster negate from Power Tool
- An omni-negate and floodgate from Herald
- A non-targettable, non-destructible SPYRAL Sleeper that has double pop every turn
- A search for Secret Village to lock your opponent from spells
Not including possible Ash/Called by/Droplet draws by the way. In short, if you go full combo going first, you win. No exceptions. I dare you to name one deck that can play through this endboard.
Here's some cool stuff about this deck:
- Prep/Illusion/Souls + Resort/Quik-Fix/Big Red/Rescue/One For One/Monster Reborn is full combo.
- Ravine + any special summon under Level 7 is full combo (minus Secret Village).
- Drone + Super Agent + any monster is full combo.
- You can play through multiple disruptions depending your hand.
- If you draw O-Lion/Jet Synchron + Illusion, you can shuffle them back w/ Illusion's effect.
- There's a Small World bridge for almost any relevant monster you want.
And here's some not cool stuff about this deck:
- Going second is tough. You run fewer handtraps in a larger deck, so expect to face big boards.
- If your opponent resolves Maxx "C", your deck has no back-up strategy other than passing/OTK'ing.
- The clock is an actual threat. Make sure to learn your combos.
- The deck has a ton of Garnets. This is why you have to run 60 cards.
- If you mill O-Lion off of Curious's effect, you lose half of your endboard.
Overall, the deck is harder to learn than your average deck. It's not as simple as "normal summon Mo-Ye" or "activate Branded Fusion", but if you take the time to learn, you'll be rewarded with a super fun combo deck with one of the highest ceilings in the whole game.
