Notes & Combos

Started from DLv.7 all the way to 20. I made several revisions during my climb, but this is my finalized take for the event.

You might be wondering... why 60 cards?

  • I don't get punished as hard in losing important pieces to the Ishizu mills.
  • I gives Rafale, Folgo and Maxx "C" draws more versatile, and makes going 2nd less bad. More monster hand-traps means Small World can fix my hand to handle most situations. This is why I play a bit of everything (engine, extenders, hand-traps and even counters to hand-traps like Reboot, Sauravis and Crossout).
  • I get something out summoning hand-traps when I absolutely have to because of Rookie Fur Hire.
  • Less likely to brick on stuff like Iblee.
  • I just like piles :)

Also... why a bunch of hand traps instead of just using Runick for draws and similar interruptions? Simple: I hate not having a Battle Phase, and actually having one got me the win in multiple occassions where I otherwise would've lost. Speaking of the Battle Phase, Gamma Burst was insane in the deck and helped me clean up games a lot. Severely underrated, I gotta say I'm a huge advocate of it now.

The Sacred Beast package might seem odd here, but uninterrupted it gives 3 bodies by itself. With a Spright in hand it's a 2.5 card combo line to Folgo. If you open 2 Fur Hire with the Beckoning Beast you can use Almiraj+Beast = Donner. If you didn't open any extenders, it can fall back to Gigantic Spright. It's the best normal summon by itself, vs. Rex who needs Spright or another Fur Hire to do more. The main reason to play Almiraj is for this synergy.

The Link-3 and 4 monsters are pretty much a toolbox. Tri-Heart makes it so the opponent can't crash with Iblee or any non-Links, unless negated. Abomination helps in getting 2 destructions when combined with Donpa, and helps in grindier games so they don't outpace you in field presence (came up against Eldlich, insanely good for clearing backrow). Apollousa didn't come up much, but it helps if you know they'll start using a lot of monster effects; there were times I should've summoned her but didn't and it costed me, so I think she's worth the slot. Goddess is self-explanatory; she helps out Towers or monsters I can't run over.

Zeus didn't come up a lot but there was 2 games where I took it out and I wish I didn't.

Full combo should look like: Folgo + Elf and I:P under Folgo + Donpa + Spright Red/Carrot (I always go with Carrot for Evenly Match due to its strength and current popularity).
