Notes & Combos
14W 3L. No handtraps all gas.
General Gameplan:
Make synchro Minerva with 2 lightsworn mats. Usually that involves getting to Weiss + another LS in hand. Try to bait Ash and Imper as much as possible before s-Minerva. People don't know to hold handtraps for s-Minerva, even though the Lightsworn loaner was very common in the last Theme Chronicle.
If you can't get to 2 lightsworns that can synchro together, then any 2 Lv4s will make xyz Minerva. Then just pray for good mills. Alternatively, make Dugares in situations where you have something good to discard from hand.
After s-Minerva, you can just mill mill mill and get tons of materials. Make Draco Berserker as the next piece after s-Minerva, because it can protect against Nib vs opponents who hold it. The Jurrac loaner has 3 Nibs. Next up, make Zombie Vampire using s-Minerva and the searched Punishment Dragon.
It's going to vary after that due to mill luck. I:P is the next highest priority, unless the random mills got you one half of the two things required for the zombie package (Zombie World + Baler). If so, you can get to the other half using Curious or Destrudo. Destrudo makes Fairy Dragon if Chicken Game was drawn, or Shooting Riser if not.
Important to remember: Glow-up Bloom will lock into zombies. For this decklist, that will end the turn. If GUB is randomly milled early, you should actually skip the effect if it means you can keep combo-ing longer.
Matchup History:
Wins vs: jurrac x3, six sam x2, egyptian gods x2, strikers, gem knight (ftk?), heroes, ursarctic, ghoti, dark magician, kuriboh, allure queen. As you can see, turning dinosaurs into zombies is not common enough after all. Lightsworn probably would be more optimal without the zombie package, but I liked playing it for theme reasons.
Losses vs:
- Unknown deck at the time. This was a legit disconnect for me. But they had already resolved Fuwalos, so I was in a disadvantaged position anyways.
- Vaalmonica. I lost the flip and went 2nd. Let's get real, the timer doesn't let you read all the text on all those cards. Mainly, their deck has destruction protection, and that's mostly how my deck can break boards. Knightmare Unicorn, Draco Berserker, and Avramax together were still not enough due to time pressure.
- Weather Painter. I opened with 2 Felis and 1 Wulf, going second.
