Notes & Combos
Allow me to introduce: Serial Striker
Put this together for fun and somehow just absolutely cleaning up. The crux of the strategy is built around the interaction between Serial Spell and our powerful normal spells (usually engage, but sometimes TTT as well).
What is Serial Spell?
Serial Spell is a very old card that doesn't see use so allow me to explain:
- If you activate a normal spell like Engage, and the opponent does not chain, you chain to your own card with Serial Spell.
- As cost, you discard your entire hand (you MUST have at least 1 card in hand to be able to activate)
- You copy the effect of the Normal spell even if it is a once per turn card (if that's engage that includes the +1's, and if that is talents you can choose the same or a different option than the other)
This has incredible synergy with Striker for a couple reasons:
- The discard for Serial Spell occurs before the resolution of it or Engage, so the discarded spells count towards your gy spell count
- This card is very strong with both TTT which striker loves to play naturally
- Because you don't play handtraps and all your breakers are in multiples, there is rarely a card you don't mind discarding
- It's a quick play for Vision!
How to use Serial Spell
-
The best discards are usually Black Goat, Cyanos, Roze, extra copies of super poly or droplet, afterburner going first, or Lemnis Gate.
-
Sometimes if you open no starters, you actually do need to use this with Upstart Goblin even if it's not ideal lol
-
Going First:
- You setup an Engage (ideally with 2 spells in gy already)
- You set the cards you want to keep (quick plays for next turn and normal spells you can use after)
- You summon Raye or Roze if you need to first, and then you fire off Engage with a discard left in hand
-
Going Second:
- Usually you will have some redudant non-engine in your hand, or a dead lemnis, or an extra normal summon. Identify what you will want as the discard
- Generally you need to clear their board of interuption with the cards you don't want to discard first
- You don't HAVE to use it if the situation isn't favorable. It works just fine as a super poly discard or a send for droplet or Cyanos
Non-Engine
The rest of the non-engine is not too remarkable, just great quick play breakers for the format. Super Poly absolutely dunks on Killer Tune, and droplet is also very very nice since they tend to try and dodge targeted negation!
Replays
I always upload my seasonal runs to M1 on my youtube channel. This season I got there before Killer Tune released, so I'll be releasing an additional video this month with some matches vs them (featuring this deck!)
Please check out the M1 video I posted this season, as the matches are quite good and I always include annotations to help people through my thought process when playing the deck!
