Notes & Combos
I was wondering if a 60 card pile would work with maliss and ryzeal around, it did !
Duelist ID: 528-183-333
Voiceless voice transitions nicely into Ryu-Ge after setting Skull Gardian's negate or at list baiting a interactions, and ryu-ge is a cool addition to the board while offering plays under MaxxC. Ryu-Ge allows to prevent draws for the oppenent while allowing a pop by summoning Anva and then summoning mistva popping to set 1 or 2 continuous spells.
For Emva hand banish, it can be risky with maliss around but hitting a one of like Chundra is great. Even more with Safira helping for Emva's summon from GY.
Points of reflection though :
- 60 card pile means you sometime get wierd hands (only non-engine, which is exhausting, or gas only which can do the trick even going 2nd sometimes) ;
- for non-engine, I like super poly but with 60 cards you don't always see it. Also I replaced 3 Lancea by 3 fuwaloss after DC started ;
- regarding ryu-ge and handtraps, it doesn't care about effect veiler and imperm, but lancea shuts War Zone summon preparation and is in every deck. You can search the trap out of Mistva if you got lancea'd but it hurts if chained to war zone. Also, thanks droll is not more played too for now ;
- in hand Ryu-Ge's are usefull for ash blossom checks even if it could trigger droll. I only got punished once or twice like that. Also its impressive how up to my last duel in diamond I people nearly always ash Ryu-Ge's search for continuous spells and don't seem to know that it's a win more search and not a starter (underplayed archetype benefit I guess) ;
- I stumbled across someone playing the same deck in Diamond I but with fiendsmith. I didn't get to see the fiendsmith part in action with the rest of his deck but it could be something to try ;
- a kaiju being searchable out of the fieldspell is pretty cool and came quite in handy for some duels (exodia typically) ;
- for consistency cards like melody of awekening dragon and pre-preparation I'm kinda dubious. Awekening is a great 1.5 starter for ryu-ge but the deck already has Mistva + Ryu-Ge rising + saffira + skull gardian to start Ryu-Ge shenanigans. For pre-prep, it is a 2 card starter (pre-prep + level 7 or higher light monster) but prayers can't use other Ryu-Ge monsters as material which limits the nomber of targets for this 2 card starter (10 suitable tributes for this list).
Overall the second half of Diamond was a bit tough with all malyss players you encounter and with a 60 card deck with only 3 lancea and potentially 3 chaos hunter, but the deck sure was fun !
