Notes & Combos

With the gems from pushing to M5 -- primarily with Crystron -- I finished building my Ryzeal core, so I don't have an M1 Crystron list this time. The problem with Crystron is that it can randomly lose games to the still-present Lancea, a problem that I think will only be exacerbated by the introduction of new @Ignister and Maliss's incoming boom! It's just that last season, I didn't really have much else to try.

• A statement that stuck with me is that modern decks often "brick" by opening 1 starter that gets handtrapped, and to help with this, we should have 3x Tristaros to extend through that handtrap. I like that idea. Even opening nothing but Tristaros can still attract a lot of attention from the opponent.
• Horus is out and Millennium is back in, inspired by the pros. Millennium has more live cards, Doomed creates a ton of pressure, and you're probably done anyway if you open just the secondary engine versus Ryzeal (Imsety instantly eats Cross for a giant minus one), regardless of which engine it is.
• It bears repeating from my Ryzeal list: Talents hand rip is more disgusting than ever and I hope it gets hit to 2 or 1 on the banlist ASAP. (Thanks @mmmaybach... heh)
• Photon Lord wasn't worth it, Zeus is back in and did come up, especially against Blue-Eyes. Remember he's also a Machine, so you can use Sulfador and Tristaros to help make him!
  • Typhon stays in though; I cut him for some time, but regretted it quickly. Instead, Hagoita is out -- it doesn't stop Ryzeal enough.

After trying Ryzeal, even though it was suboptimal, I found its engine just had more oomph than this, so this deck might be going on the back burner like many of my others before it. (It's still very fun, and I find it better than Ryzeal specifically for the "Destroy a card" daily, but this darned Lancea probably isn't going anywhere soon, judging by the next pack.) In the meantime, I think I'll just keep doing my dailies and eagerly awaiting the next Festival.
