Notes & Combos

Made it from Diamond 5 to Master 5 surprisingly quickly at the end of this season !

Even though Maliss and Ryzeal are still everywhere, they felt a bit less oppressive than earlier this month when it was literally one or the other every single match.

I only picked up Crystrons this month, so I’m still a beginner with the deck—but man, it’s so much fun to play! The lines are super flexible, there are plenty of ways to play through hand traps, and the more I pilot it, the more I feel like wins come down to my decisions rather than autopilot combos. Super satisfying, even if I still catch myself making a lot of misplays.

Deckbuilding choices

I maxed out on hand traps mainly to fight both Maliss and Ryzeal, and also because Crystron going second isn’t exactly strong. Stopping the opponent turn 1 makes the deck’s life way easier. I don’t have access to the Horus or Millennium engines yet, so that wasn’t really an option (though I definitely plan to test Millennium now that the new pack is out).

Extra Deck thoughts

  • Hagoita is mostly there to annoy Ryzeal.

  • Haven’t really used Ametrix or Legatia yet, but I think that’s more due to my playstyle—I probably need to get more creative to get value out of them.

  • S:P hasn’t come up either, but I like having it as insurance.

  • Rarely used Mechaba or Destroyer, but when Nibiru lands, it feels great to have them.

  • Everything else feels core. The only things I wish I had space for are a second Dragster (more for comfort than necessity) and maybe a Level 6 like Powered Inzektron—it would help in weird scenarios where I’ve got Citree on board and Fuwalos in the grave, while also buying me an extra turn. Since Powered Inzektron can also help against Tenpai, it could even be made with Tristaros + Rosenix (a Level 4), but that would mean running another weaker Crystron, so I’m not sure it’s worth it.

General tips

  • Always try to keep Tristaros on board while comboing so you guarantee follow-up.

  • Don’t be afraid to Droll yourself if your opponent drops Maxx “C” or Mulcharmies—it’s worth it.

  • Ending on Citree + Tristaros is ideal.
