Introduction:

Hiya!

So, the new selection pack for April sees the release of (another... Ɛ-_-3) dreaded meta contender: Kewl Tune! With bothersome effects such as perfect hand information, constant chain-blocking, extra deck ripping, level modulation, omni-negates, hand-trap capacity, and more, can Sky Striker adapt, like it always has to, in response to new meta threats?

Overview:

(+)Expanded Radiant Typhoon (RT): Guess who has returned to my deck! Previously utilized in the Duelist Cup is a larger RT package with Eldam, Swen, and Chant. These cards provide very strong combos via Camellia as they naturally send Spells to the GY which grant us ample draws (Engage+ and Visions). Despite these strengths, I do find them considerably weaker into Purulia, Maxx "C", and sometimes clogging the zones if negated. As someone who had a chance to upload one of the first of these variants in MDM, I'm really glad this version has gained so much traction!

(+)Super Polymerization: While I typically try to avoid SPoly due to its matchup variance and discard cost, I think it is very valid to run this card for Kewl Tune, Yummy, and other rogue tier strategies. My target of choice is Theseus, which fuses off two Tuners (the basis of their whole strategy). It helps deal with annoying cards such as Naturia Rosewhip/Beast due to its unrespondable effect. Please note that Theseus is NOT an Effect monster, meaning you cannot use it to summon Camellia or even S:P. Admittedly, I lost a Rank-up game due to this.. Other targets to consider are Secreterion Dragon, Magistus Chorozo, etc.

(+)TTThrust: An experimental package for now, TTThrust is here as a means to punish our opponent interacting with Monster hand-traps (much more prominent with K9, Dracotail, and Kewl Tune), setting Dimensional Barrier*.

(-) Miscellaneous Cards: Other cards to consider are Pot of Desires, Ghost Belle, Crossout Designator, ROTA, Book of Eclipse, Shark Cannon, Ty-phon, Cyanos, and more! Some of these cards, like ROTA, I forgot to add in my deck. Whoops.

Conclusion:

Overall, a very smooth climb! Not once did I derank in this climb, which was very fortunate! I think Striker is well suited into Kewl Tune for now with decent enough luck, and is stronger due to the consistency hits of premier meta decks! Sincerest gratitude to Floowooly and the Duel Dungeon! I totally didn't say this against my will!

*Apologies Kuby-- I had to!
