Notes & Combos
I tried climbing with Unchained at the start of the season, and while that deck is very strong and fun to play, I struggled a lot with skilled players hard opening Maxx "C", Subversion, Perlereino, and Branded Fusion, so after a couple of failed rank-up matches to M5 with the dogs, I figured I'd give the cats a go.
Now that we have smol Noir, we can just set up a Lyeap play and draw anywhere between 2-6 cards during our opponent's turn while they only 1, maybe 2 cards, under the roach.
Street has been the goat this climb. Targeting protection for one turn is deceptively strong, especially when setting up your initial plays, so you want to see this in your opening hand if possible. If not, Prosp for it.
Going 2nd, the usual Happiness OTK is not as likely to happen anymore with Delicious at 1, but Happiness can still add you some quick plays to help you set up either a fat Zeus or a MP2 board. Pretty is also very strong as a board breaker with its ability to succ up cards from your opponent's field by sending your own negated or used up cards on your field.
At first I was running only 1 trap card but I ended up adding a second one cause it does come up in the grind game, plus you're not mad opening it since it allows you to set up another cat like Pretty for a rank-up during your opponent's turn after using its on-field monster negate.
Some Snake-Eye players were skilled enough to hard open Kurikara/Subversion, but even after your big Noir is outed, Street and Mi Amigo give you the ability to bounce back, and if you can remake Noir, you can outresource your opponent in no time.
For the Extra Deck, the 2nd Plump is basically pot fodder, but it can come up in niche situations. I don't recall ever summoning either Princessprite or Azalea, so those are definitely not needed.
In Diamond at least for me, cats > dogs, but we'll see how both go in Master. In some metas, Diamond is actually the harder climb out of those two ¯\\_ (ツ) _/¯
