Notes & Combos

Season 44 on Pure Crystron only

I'll try to organize my thoughts on some of what's going on in the format, the ideas behind the cards I ran and if you need them, and I'll list my replays with my ID below. if you have any questions feel free to comment since I want to start improving my own game a bit too.

  1. The Pure Engine

This is the first time I actually ever played pure Crystron and Ithere's an immediate difference in how much more useful these ratios are when applied to pure. You definitely don't change the pure engine requirements or you're trolling and I'll explain why.

2x trist - in Millennium you could run 3 trist and that alone would combo extremely well with the engine, and provide some insulation while you tried to push out 8s, baronne, and TZV. You can't make the case for that in pure since I also don't think you need baronne at the moment. (more on that later)

3x Smiger - 1CC and you always want to see it as a discard

1x thyst - can't go into a 1cc so you only need 1

1x prasiortle - This card is very needed in pure, it can help play around 2 of the charmies, can be used to make sprelf, and it can also get you to citree / trist at the end of an insulated endboard. Don't try to play without it.

3x sulfefnir - Everything is built around sulfefnir getting you to your sulfador or trist if you have a way to make sprelf and then get to sulfador on board. 14 other crystrons which leads you to that rough 85% chance of a 2CC.

2x - Sulfador - This card is similar to trist in that running it at a higher number benefitted in millennium where you were using the 2ccs through the millennium cards which could potentially summon him without having to use the machine-lock, now you don't want to see a 2cc of him and sulfefnir or your plays become slightly redundant and/or just force a machine lock.

3x Inclusion - 1cc with 3 effects, you never run this below 3.

1x Cluster - Invaluable endboard piece that gives you a crazy grind game, I used to flip this up right when I passed turn but now you definitely need to wait in case of ext ryzeal sending aggregator to negate. The banish protection can make semi-towers out of your crystrons vs maliss. When you see maaliss flip this as soon as you can in the open game state to shut off linguriboh, linguriboh can only negate the activation of Cluster, not the effect.

  1. Foolish Burials package / Rest of the nonengine

Your standard foolish burial lets you get to smiger to start a 1cc or complement any of your hands so it's an autoinclude as a subengine.

However, I would say now is definitely the best time to be on Foolish Burial GOODS. This card can send clockwork night to discard a card to search for scrap recycler who is a weaker 1cc in this deck, functioning as a way to summon smiger. This used alongside black goat laughs presents a way to crack ryzeal boards. Rivalry of warlords is a going first blowout but I wouldn't call it a win-more card, if you open rivalry and a way to get to a copy of inclusion you can link into clockwork knight to pitch the inclusion for clockwork night which is a soft-floodgate in its own right but when paired with rivalry of warlords they won't be able to summon anything, nothing lasts forever but I've yet to lose a game where I've resolved this combo. You can also search therion king regulus with clockwork night, and regulus is incredible into tenpai lists that will usually attempt to go for S/T removal to bait for their droplet, but with less tenpai vs the start of the month I dropped this card for more impactful nonengine. Tidal has water synergy and gives you an extra search + a foolish for ANY monster in your deck.

  1. The rest of the nonengine

Handtrap wise I still think trying to stock your deck up with 1-for-1 interactions WILL lose you more games. I tried imperm but with a lower set of handtraps using it as my boardbreaker just resulted in trading plugin, and being left to deal with plasma hole, detonator, and cross. Your only real way to break or halt this sort of board is a lingering floodgate, and while I could stock up on droll that card just doesn't play well enough into maliss and has a conflicting synergy with charmies. I just ran 1 copy of each but I don't think that's the gospel, I would probably run more purulia if I had more since it plays well into ryzeal / provides water synergy for tidal. In this format even if you have handtraps you can't attempt to pass on an empty board without risking getting otk'd so stocking up on too many charmies also poses a risk.

I knew I really only wanted to run one lancea since new-toy syndrome will make a playset of this a dead card, but I still wanted to get access to lancea when I either had the deck knowledge I was vs Maliss or I already opened Black Goat which makes Sanctum a VERY good thrust target.

Now I'm going to say you don't need sanctum at all to climb and get your monthly gems, you can definitely go for more budget-friendly options for nonengine like murmur of the forest, which is a card that also has the potential to shut down ryzeal. I only ran this card in my last 3 games so I never got to use it but you need the talents package due to the high number of nonengine pure ryzeal can use, allowing them to charmy, maxx c, or lancea you in the standby phase, If you can bait out any other interrupts and thrust into a copy of black goat laughs you will be able to survive the turn on a half-board or quarter=board and win in the grind game.

  1. Extra Deck Changes

This is getting a little lengthy so I'm going to give a quick rundown of my thoughts on the extra. I've decided to cut baronne / accel synchron entirely, i've never been in a situation where I would make it over Hagoita and raise the levels of their ryzeal board to prevent an OTK. (Hagoita isn't a gigastomper either, with the sheer amount of ryzeal names they can slowly node and Ice away their 5s and get to some of their rank 4s.

Spright elf has made for some incredibly nasty and resilient boards, so I try to set it up before I machine-lock everytime. I never actually chanbara'd anyone on the push for damage so I can't speak to its practicality, I didn't really ever make the 2nd dawn dragster, but the Zeus and Typhon came up CONSTANTLY. When I have time for rated i'll probably remove dragster and chanbara for vimana and ametrix.

  1. Replays ID: 055-267-853

I want to make public some of the games where I do well but also make some crazy mistakes, people don't figure things out all at once so I listed a lot of games based more on if they were interesting, if I figured out something towards the end of the game, if you could learn from some of my (many) mistakes given the limited to combo off lol, and SOMETIMES where I absolutely go crazy in the game. I was this close to getting a win off emre but sometimes you gotta be just a bit faster.
