Notes & Combos

This is my first time reaching M1, usually getting stuck around M3 - M2. I decided to try a pure Kashtira build based on some other decks I found. Overall, the climb was pretty smooth. This deck did brick a little, but the hand traps, board breakers, and pots helped out even when bricking and at least gave me a chance.

The last 20 games to M1 is this list, unchanged since hitting M4 and went 16-4.

Cards to try, but I cut:

  1. Sauravis: This was nice when it came up, but in the 20 games I tested, I only used it twice. I swapped this to Pathfinder for a little more consistency and feel like it worked out better.
  2. Lightning Storm: I tried it in a few games to clear backrow against Rescue ACE, Lab, and Purrley; it was ok, but I changed that to another pot and prefer that.
  3. Tomahawk + Saryuja + Link Spider: From P5 to D5 I had this in my ED and did not use it a single time. Switching to Baronne + Chengyeng worked out much better, especially with the 6 level 3 tuners. They both came up often.

Other Cards:

  1. Ghost Mourner came up a lot. I was considering cutting it to 2 and adding another Pathfinder, but just based on how many games that card alone won, there is no way I would play less than 3. Also, playing 3 Ash + 3 Ghost made syncro plays much more accessible, and they did come up quite a bit. Ghost Mourner on your opponent's turn, followed by a Fenrir or Arise-Heart banish, can win just off that if they are already low LP. (Optional play under Maxx C end on Flare Metal + Mourner in hand)
  2. Pathfider I kept at 1, and for a while, 1 wasn't playing it at all, but the field search is well worth it. I don't think two are needed with the three pots.
  3. Raigeki + Harpie's Feather Duster came up a lot. I was considering cutting Raigeki for either another Ogre, Pathfinder, or something else, but this is really good in the current format. If you can use either of these under Shifter it's usually enough to win.
  4. Thrust was helpful searching for board breakers or even baiting an Ash was usually worth it to then use Kashtira searches. I would really like to try to fit in another Thrust but I'm not sure what to cut. The only card I would say is probably Big Bang; it did come up a few times for the banish effect, but I did not use it at all for the detach material effect.
  5. For the extra deck - N'tss, Garura, and Infinitrack were the targts with Prosperity to attach to Arise-Heart.
