Notes & Combos
I've been a huge fan of trap control decks like paleo, eldlich, and labrynth for years and was excited to build the newest iteration of trap control, but I won't lie, I don't think I'm a huge fan of this iteration.
The deck is severely lacking in engine since serket isn't good enough, which resulted in an agonizing number of duels lost to just not drawing a starter and not being able to capitalize on trap disruption. On top of that, the engine itself is very dated; the only chance you have going second is to draw 3+ hand traps, so you're just rolling the dice when you lose the coin toss. The game plan going first, while extremely strong, isn't the most exciting. Negate everything important your opponent does with 3-4 omnis. A far cry from the more varied disruption of control decks of the past. It got to DL Max, just barely. Overall the deck plays more like the newest iteration of a playable stun build more than a true trap control deck, and even has the classic stun problem of needing to draw great hands just to compete.
Main changes from most lists are the removal of the solemn traps as they did nothing to help me going second (lost the coin toss 8 times in a row in lv19), and more starters even if it risks playing into k9 just so I'm not DOA after the initial traps are spent. Axon Kicker was great against VSK9. Dshifter would've been better if you could play more against dtail. Never summoned Chengying even once so you could probably replace him for another spoly target. Everything else came up at least once.
The only thing I might change would be to maybe change the ratio on impulse and spiral. There were way too many duels where I had to use impulse early and lock myself out of engine just to stay in the game at all.
If you're on the fence about crafting odion, I probably wouldn't. It isn't the most interesting and it's clear it's going to get power crept quick unless it gets another trap like Songs of the Dominators that allows it to play a little faster comes out. For now it's got a favorable VSK9 and Dracotail matchup as neither of them deal that well with backrow and you don't activate much in the gy. Yummy isn't bad either. Radiant Typhoon eats this deck alive though since they can shotgun half their stuff in the draw phase when your Apophis traps can't negate and they can loop MST on you 3+ times.
Replays
Didn't really have any interesting games with the deck, so no replays saved.
