Notes & Combos

Pretty standard combo Blue-Eyes list, used some variation of this list all the way from the start. Maximized the number of available hand trap starters by running max copies of Droll and Veiler. Tried a version that had copies Fuwalos and Nibiru for Crossout targets but didn't like how often those two ended up in my hand so cut them for the Piri Reis Maps.

Extra deck space is very tight. Hot Red is great into a lot of going-second board breakers, Photon Lord is a great endboard piece in its own right on top of Nibiru protection, and the third spirit dragon won me multiple games on the way up. My least used extra deck option was Cosmic Blazar Dragon but even then if I saw my opponent going into Tenpai combo starters and had a spirit dragon still active, Blazar usually ended the duel right then and there.

Running so many bricks meant that a lot of my hands had one or two cards I would rather have still had in my deck, but most of those cards were still very playable on their own and I certainly got around a lot of Drolls and Ashes just by having the cards in-hand. No regrets running Master, Rumble, or Jet, all three were very powerful cards and enabled the Photon Lord combo line from just Normal Summon Sage. And worst came to worst, discarding a Blue-Eyes to Wishes was almost never a problem.

All in all, climb wasn't bad. Lots of stun that would just win if they got to go first, lots of Snake-eyes, Blue-Eyes, and Bystials. Having a robust game plan, lots of resource recursion, and multiple paths into good plays meant many of my opponents wasted disruption or broke most of my board only to realize that I still had Neo-Ultimate or Jet in the graveyard to keep my 3k attack beat stick safe.
