Notes & Combos

A plant/Ragnaraika-typing combo deck that takes advantage of the fact that most people don't recognize that Traptrix is actually a combo deck, and are willing to be extra aggressive with handtraps since they don't think they'll have value if they hold them longer. A spent Ash Blossom on a traptrix normal summon means that you can reveal Habakiri & do Mitsurugi unafraid, and an uncontested Traptrix start can let you either bridge into Mitsu with Feral Imps or protect the Mitsurugi combo with Rafflesia.

Any two 4s can bridge from either main engine into the other (Feral Imps for Mitsu, Pinguicula for Traptrix), although Traptrix can only bridge back into Mitsu if they have a non-Arachnocampa start since that has an Insect/Plant Extra deck lock. Ragnaraikas can't really access either of the other engines on their own, but are an easy way to convert all the extra material lying around at the end of the main combo, and provide a good amount of extra ceiling and a ton of grind game for only 4 main deck slots.

One uninterrupted Habakiri + a discard should yield an endboard of:

  • Murakumo, Hyperaton (Monster/Spell Negate), Rafflesia and Stag Sovereign
  • Great Purification, Hunting Dance, 1 Trap Hole, and Ragnaraika Bloom
  • Holeutea with Sera, Pinguicula, and Myrmeleo in Grave
  • Habakiri + 3 random draws in hand

With this in mind, the deck is VERY capable of freestyling based on the hand it has to play around different things, and can produce additional endboard pieces depending on the extenders that the hand has.

The deck is super resilient to board breakers and so it’s best matchups are the blind second decks (Striker, Tenpai, Gem-Knight), but being so reliant on the normal means that it has a difficult time going second if the opponent knows to not let you establish a Sera on board.

Main consideration for a change is to add in a Miturugi Wousu, since the deck CANNOT out a Liger dancer as currently constructed, but the deck still would not beat the double Liger endboard even with the Wousu. Also Dancepione rarely comes up, and could be changed to a Zeus or other random utility monster
