Notes & Combos
Finally had an opportunity to grind to D1 this week and pulled it off! From Diamond 5 to Diamond 1, my record was 40 wins out of 61 total games -- a 65.5% win rate. Easily my fastest ladder climb ever.
I ditched Canceller this season because it's quite bad against Mathmech, which is now the flavor of the month. On the other hand, there's still alot of Runick, so I didn't play Scythe. Instead, I went with the jack-of-all-trades setup of Snow, which let me play 2 Nyan instead of 1 and 3 Maxx C instead of 2.
VW's matchup against Runick is usually winnable, even without Canceller. You can outgrind them by using Fanfan and Chengying to banish Runick Fountain or by protecting your Shenshen to banish any new Runick cards in play. Use Baronne to protect your Chuche -- you need to keep recycling cards with it to outpace Runick thinning your deck out.
To beat Mathmech, keep Diameter and Circular off the field or flip them facedown with Snow. Do not let Diameter become Xyz material or you will die to an Update Jammer into Accesscode OTK. Going second, you can Called By in response to Superfactorial -- banish the Diameter. That will prevent the summon of Alembertian, which means no triple removal effect.
If you want to learn how to play this deck, check out #virtual-world in the Master Duel Meta discord. There is a 108 page guide written by me in the pins, with combos for every 2-card opening hand written out step by step.
Replays
As always, my replays are at ID: 781-697-168. The last 4 replays are from the current season. The other 6 are from previous seasons but the decks featured there are still relevant.
All replays are me going second against meta decks against either established boards or in otherwise very awkward positions. If you are new to the deck, go play by play and ask yourself what you would do with my hand, then compare with what I did. Note that I did not always make perfect plays!
