Notes & Combos

I'm having an absolute blast playing Combo-Trix in this cup — such fun! Overall, the deck achieved a 71% win rate, with a highest win streak of 9 games in a row.

Some notes:
  1. "Fuwalos": Fantastic card going second against a lot of decks. Even going first, Fuwalos can still build a passable board when combined with Rikka Princess, Sakitama, or Parallel eXceed. Also serves as a great "Small World" bridge.

  2. "Nibiru": You can really catch some players off guard by holding it back and then activating it unexpectedly. Performed solidly overall.

  3. "Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit": An okay option, though I didn't face many Blue-Eyes decks in this cup. Might be worth cutting.

  4. "Mardel": You really don't want to see this card in your opening hand — just pray! Just pray! You can also add "RR Wicked Butterfly" and it works surprisingly good with "Mardel" but i need more testing data.

  5. Extender:

    • "Sakitama": Overall one of the best extenders. Against Maxx C or Fuwalos, you can just make Bagooska, give them only one draw, and pass. Fantastic utility card.
    • "Rikka Princess": Keep in mind it temporarily locks you into Plants, so be careful—use Cularia or a Rank 4 Xyz Monster accordingly.
    • "Parallel eXceed": Helps make your end board look much stronger. Offers solid Link material and improves your pressure potential significantly.
  6. Cularia: Do not cut this card! When you're locked into plants or insects (e.g. Arachno combo line) and you have both Mardel and Lily on the field, Cularia is essential. It's basically the only generic Link-2 plant/insect with a reasonable effect, and it even enables you to special summon Regulus afterward. There are also some niche interactions with Rikka Princess that can come in clutch.

  7. Extra deck flex spots: "Rafflesia", "Asophiel", "Almiraj", ("S:P") ---

Typically Endboard with interactions looks like:
  • Apollousa (2 mats monster negate)
  • Hyperyton (spell + monster negate)
  • Regulus (omni negate)
  • Therion field spell (recycling regulus/lily)
  • RR Hunting Dance on field (pop + trigger for sera after SS from GY)
  • 1+ Hole trap on field (mostly gravedigger or rarely flootgate)
  • GY shenanigans with Holeutea (Sera, Myr, Pudica or Pingu)
  • (Sera -> SS Myr,Pudica or Arachno from Deck)
  • Follow up for next turn:
    • Dionaea in hand
    • 0-2 not used cards in hand
    • RR Mantis Monk in GY
    • (Sera set Holeutea or Gravedigger)
    • (RR Hunting Dance can pop a monster after crashing into it)
