Notes & Combos
For the 1st stage of the WCS Qualifiers 2025, I decided to try out the newly released Mimighoul archetype. Somehow, I got a 19 winstreak (people surrender too fast) which propelled me to DLv. MAX. Never though my record winstreak would be achieved with Mimighouls lol.
This is a control deck where the main gimmick is to gift your opponent flip monsters with negative effects, and then forcing them to be flipped face-up. It's not meta, but it's really wacky and fun to play, plus it's not too expensive.
Important note: To play the deck optimally you want 3 copies of Maker, I played 2 because I only pulled 2 and can't afford to spend more UR points at the moment.
Your best starters are Mimighoul Maker and Mimighoul Dragon (and in turn, Mimighoul Dungeon, which can search Dragon or any other Mimighoul monster), but the deck really excels when you have access to 2-card combos. Many times, what you want to do is either lock your opponent from normal summoning with Dungeon, and use Mimighoul Room to summon Dragon or Archfiend to their side of the field and then flip them up with Maker's GY effect or Mimighoul Master.
Both the Kashtira cards and Triple Tactics have insane synergy with this archetype, since you can make the Mimighouls activate on your opponent field (even if you don't, they are still very good standalone cards). Magnamhut is non-engine that can also get you into engine (it can search Dragon). Silhouhatte Rabbit is a nice way to turn 2 random monsters into a disruption (without having to play a Fiendsmith package), same for I:P (to make S:P or Underworld Goddess on the opponent's turn).
I really enjoyed my time with this deck, but if there's one thing I didn't like is that Mimighoul Master feels like such an awkward card. If it either was a Level 1 monster, or a searcher for Mimighoul Spell/Trap cards as well, it would be an amazing card for the archetype, but the fact that it is neither of those makes it less useful, hence why everyone runs it at 1 copy (imagine a monster that searches on summon being a soft garnet lol). I even wonder if there is a world where you could play Mimighoul without Master.
On a side note, be aware that Dominus Impulse completely shuts down the Mimighoul effects for the entire duel. I got lucky and never had to deal with that though.
I hope you enjoy the deck, happy dueling!
Replays
Here is a video with some nice duels from this deck. I wish I could have showcased more of the Mimighoul plays, but as I said, the opponents surrender too fast when I start comboing (either that or I get completely shut down by handtraps lol), so I didn't get many good replays. Hope you still enjoy it!
