Notes & Combos
This event has been a devastating atrocity, due to the fact that some unhinged people believe it's ok to have Called banned and several handtraps, like Misc, legal at 3.
Hopefully, they'll stop talking after this event, but I doubt it
One of the only 4 relevant decks, alongside Jurrac, Six Sam, and Control/Stun, Sky Striker was always a mid deck even in its prime, overbalanced by the fact the Spells aren't OPT, and Engage being whatever it is.
What is the playstyle of this deck? Random stuff, go. What else? And they say it requires skill.
-
Droll - Shuts down Six Sam, and stops Fuwa. And they wanted to make this mistake of an event balanced. What were they smoking.
-
Ash - Truly, Ash is always balanced in events like these, where staples get deleted. I can't fathom the genius that is behind Konami employees when they make this. Great idea banning Called tho. That sure did good.
-
Rei - Rei, not Raye, thank you very much, and, while I know you're a bit too high on what Linkage does, ending the turn with either Camellia+Linkage or Shizuku, with Raye in the GY ISN'T an option. Let's just hope Hayate isn't to be used to mill Engage to be fetched back by Kagari
-
Roze - The list of utilities given by a single copy of Zero cannot be listed fully here. Truly a weapon for more sophisticated Multirole, Zeke and Linkage plays. And besides, Normal Summoning Rei is for emergencies...at least that's what I hope you're doing
-
Fuwa - At 3. At this point, they could have left Maxx C: harmful to the game, yes, but a bit more honest on not being willing or capable of fixing this event. But sure, the limitation truly kept it at bay, much like Impermanence. Believe it.
-
HFD - Well, you see, Thrust was legal, and Engage keeps on drawing. With control around, this is perhaps the greatest gift this event has given to all of us.
-
ROTA - And people think that they can live without Rei or Zero in the GY. I'll end up coughing blood from all the laughing here, at this rate.
-
Afterburners - Given how horrible Jam is, the next level play is popping your own monsters just to pop a single piece of backrow, with 3+ Spells in the GY. Especially E0, whose existence irritates me to this day
-
Talent - Only with Thrust. Because it's countered by Imperm and shotgunning stuff during the Draw to Standby. It's otherwise the very broken card that shouldn't have been printed or legal. Works only if the effect has been activated during the Main Phase, unlike Thrust. You can understand the difference in ratios.
-
Engage - Trash card, don't play it. I can't even understand why it used to be banned. And that's how I got expelled from Sky Striker Academy, for saying this. Ah, so-called freedom of speech
-
Thrust - Part time draw the out, part time Linkage slave. Think of how many Spells are played here
-
A0 - CL1 A0 CL2 Rei. And sometimes, it gets sent through by Linkage and Multirole. If you're lucky, it gets rid of Main Monster Zone cloggers.
-
Multirole - It's hard to have both Multi and the rest, but this card has caused an excessive number of surrenders on the opponent's behalf. Although with Triple Talent cards, it's a bit less necessary. A0 is still a thing, so it's a thing. Also helps in complicated chains where somehow you still have material to summon your L1
-
Drones - My go to target for Shizuku as plan B, whenever Engage and Anchor are out of question. Makes, like Linkage, Links without Rei or Zero. Which is truly a horrible idea, but given Hayate and Shizuku (or worse, L2+s), you never know when you might need that.
-
Shark - It stops some GY plays, like Misc, sometimes it steals, it's mostly for 3+ fodder, and Temp summons. Called banned btw.
-
Anchor - Not OPT, quick, easy target for Multi When all you have is Engage. Works only on Effect Monsters, the steal doesn't happen if the monster is already negated in chain, and requires setup. Conflicts with Droplet. And NO, IT DOESN'T WORK WITH E0'S RESTRICTION
-
Droplet - Basically a compromise between Anchor (which it conflicts with) and Linkage, that shuts down interaction. It was allowed at 3 in this event. But sure, let's keep this card legal. It's not like Tenpai has kicked your rear with it enough. I'm sure it will be different with the very engine it's currently played with, that goes second, right?
-
Linkage - Would help if only we weren't surrounded by those Must Be Link Summoned, of which 1 "Lack of reliable monster removal + nonsense boost condition", 2 Self destruct if you don't stack the Spells in the GY just for a single pop Afterburners couldn't clearly do", 3 "Even more randomness when 3 or less Spells", 4 "Meet Potential Nuke", 5 "If this card is destroyed by battle + incredibly selective succ". And "you can only Kagari once per turn". But it helps with meeting the 3+ conditions, especially with Engage, and other fancy Spell stuff, on a clutch...but that's not what you're here for: you want to see the OTK, right? Well, good luck, pal.
-
Impermanence - Better Veiler, allowed at 3, dodging Talent. What a fantastic idea, Konami. Kudos. Here, let me bombard you with Spells while your plays get stopped, and I draw everything with Fuwalos.
-
Kagari - Kagari is to Engage what Invocation is to Aleister. The meme writes itself
-
Shizuku - Not only it enables several atrocities said before, it can be repeated with Linkage, and stops retaliation from the Camellia combo, after sending the latter with Linkage during their turn. But the best part? You can resolve it before Multirole to get the best stuff off the latter during the End Phase.
-
Hayate - Hayate provides, Kagari receives, while Shizuku seethes. But most importantly, it mills Rei, which is something I don't see mentioned. Also an excellent OTK enabler with Linkage alongside Kagari. I wish everyone was as good as those three, but the rest has to be so pathetically mediocre. Has open arrows
-
Kaina - Kaina is for BP clutches after Rei has revived off the death of the other L1s. The heal is basically irrelevant. At least the battle prevention lasts a bit. Still a pathetic 1500, but it can be useful to cycle between L1s. Has open arrows.
-
Zeke - Personally I'm a sucker for that armour and it's b0ll0cks that Zero gets to enjoy it, but oh well. Deals a lot of damage, has a weak disruption, helps unclogging the MMZ, is a L2. Which requires to be Link Summoned. WE WERE CLOSE TO A GOOD CARD, KONAMI. SO CLOSE.
-
Azalea - Potentially it can be another backrow (when not monster) pop. In practice, the restriction, the penalty and the insistence of requiring Link Summons make me HATE this card. Konami, this is a swiss army deck, not a kamikaze competition. Why is it so hard to make a good card. Has open arrows
-
E0 - Potential nuke, requires Linkage or Afterburners (which is really an option) to be removed, and has the worst arrows known to mankind. Can't even Anchor this as the restriction of not being able to be used as Link Material would remain. Well, at least Zero is easy to be sent off. Kind of. But it can negate, to a certain threshold. Which was very necessary, btw. God help us all if Sky Striker didn't constantly shoot themselves in the foot with these.
-
Camellia - Linkage and Temp applications aside, it can be useful to mill Raye or Roze. Yet another "wonderful" Link-2
-
Temp - Never thought I would see a monster that activates only when it's destroyed by battle. What is this? Mystic Tomato? Anyway, succs monsters. Within the same threshold of E0. And could potentially trigger what you equip with it due to their GY effects. She doesn't even gain ATK damage. Because Sky Striker is SO good at dealing damage, right? Riiiight.
-
Ningirsu - Never used it, mostly because I was busy making other sorts of plays. This stuff works best to unclog zones or with Area Zero. It'salso the only way to deal with untargetables, and it really is a nice card, but it only wants Link Monsters, so I couldn't use it. Still, extra disruptions. For the cultured, I guess
Explanations over, let me be
Replays
Just for you, I left 3 replays at 706-815-611. I sometimes made small mistakes with E0, but in my defense, that card has ZERO reason to have that stupid restriction
