Notes & Combos

My variation of the going second deck list user mofro. created. Check out their video at https://youtu.be/JB0U3WzXB0U, for the unedited decklist, and make sure to give them a like and subscribe!

I made some changes from the list, namely being I replaced Insect Imitation with Insect Barrier, since Imitation rarely came up and ended up being a brick moreso than an asset; I also made some budget cuts, such as Imperm for Chalice, Golden Sarcophagus for DDC, getting more targets for the level 5 spiderlings, and replacing Foolish/Crossout for two copies of Threatening Roar. Gokibore is my choice for vanilla insect, since it's in the art for Gokipole.

  • Threatening Roar came up surprisingly often, seeing as how a good amount of people are trying to run going second decks as well.
  • Insect Barrier is amazing for the mirror match, and is discard fodder for Picofalena otherwise; it's as bricky as Imitation, but I found that locking 1/4 of the available decks can be quite handy, since the loaner doesn't run spell/trap removal en masse.
  • Atlas is an amazing wincon; it's basically a towers in this event, since there's so little non-targetting non-destruction removal.
  • Exa-Stag is your second wincon. Taking boss monsters/otk tools is enough to make a few decks DC on the spot, and doesn't trigger the destruction effects of Fire King monsters. The only problem is that going first it's just an 800/800 vanilla, so if you're going first without threatening roar you're better off going into Greedy Sarameya.
  • Any insect can be used to grab any other insect with Small World, as long as the second card you revealed is either the level 5 or the kaiju. Really useful.
