Notes & Combos

This is a purer version of the deck I built to go first or second. I've tried to just focus on going second blindly, but there are match ups that are very unfavorable against decks that you can win more easily by going first.

At first you can learn how to use the deck from a YouTube video, I like this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_716CFYF2A&ab_channel=Gorogorogoro, we also have a good guide to the deck here on the website. I'll give some of my considerations about the deck and finally a guide to my reasoning for making the combo.

Going first

The final board I'm looking to make consists of Apollousa, Arktos XII, Hojo and Duke. This is equivalent to 3 monster negates, steal a monster, an untargeted destruction, and the Mamonaka fusion putting a monster in the spell zone. It's definitely not the unbreakable yu gi oh board that the floodgate version does, but it's strong and fun.

The main function of apollousa is to hold the game until you can activate Arktos XII at a good time to destroy a card and steal a monster, as the vaylantz will trigger them all together and the opponent may try to force you to activate it when you don't want to.

Going second

This deck and the extra pendulum deck in general have great cards to do OTK, you should start the turn trying to force all the opponent's interactions and then start the combo with the aim of just killing.

Field spells: Konig Wissen can place an opponent's monster in the spell zone, remember that if necessary you can do a normal summon on the opponent's zone board to use the effect of that field without activating any monster effect, great against kash.

Saion: As he can summon himself, he is a good card to start forcing interactions, negating monster effects and if you can move he can remove another card from the field.

Archfiend Eccentrick: Another card to force interactions, if you suspect that the opponent has infinite impermanence lowered into the pendulum zone column, use this card and destroy the set before the opponent activates.

Lava Golem: I suspect that vaylantz may be the deck that best uses this monster, we don't need a normal summon and when tributing the opponent's monsters we can choose the most favorable place to position the lava golem. It can be in the pendulum zone column or in the same column as an opponent's spell or trap. Use the field magic effect to place the lava golem in the spell zone and then when you summon the Grand Duke, deal 3000 damage to the opponent, returning the lava golem to your hand and then the Grand Duke will have 4000 attack, only but 1000 damage and we get our OTK.

Playing around Maxx C and Nibiru

Let's go, going first you obviously don't want to take this card, so use Ash and Called by the Grave. Also you can try to do Bagooska to try to hold the game if you have 2 lvl 4 in your hand.

Coming in second, maxx c's biggest problem would be the opponent buying a nibiru. That said, if you can break the opponent's board, keep going, when you start to combo for the pendulum summon the opponent will want to drop the nibiru on the pendulum summon because that would be the best place. So we just do the appollousa and do the pendulum summon without going through Beyond, for this it is important to keep monsters in your hand or in the pendulum zone as much as possible so that if the opponent drops the nibiru earlier you can still get to the pendulum summon later.

Assembling the end board

I think I've already written too much so I'll try to keep it short, focusing more on what I do differently than what you can learn in any YouTube video like the one I recommend.

Viscount: Make a special summon and activate its effect and place a lvl 6 or 8 vaylantz in the extra zone column. Now use the field magic effect to summon this monstrous in the same column, perform the Grand Duke's contact fusion (fusion machine) and then combine it with another high level vaylantz on the board to make Arktos XII.

Arktos XII: A new fusion that allows you to use the move effects of vaylantz on your opponent's turn. Activate its effect to move yourself and the Viscount, and place the granduke in the pendulum zone and destroy a spell field on your side of the field (so that the opponent doesn't use it against you on their turn).

Beyond the Pendulum: Use its effect to look for one of the monsters with vaylantz interaction, if you're lucky you already have Duke who steals a monster from the opponent and in this case I like Hojo (magician lvl 8) who, together with the effect Duke allows you to make Mamonaka with the stolen monster.

After the pendulum summon, you should have material to make a link-4 like Apollousa and keep Arktos XII, Hojo and Duke. With luck you can still make an I:P by spending your normal summon, but it may be better to save the monster for the next turn.

Also note that Beyond and Electrumite are mainly used to search for vaylantz cards that you haven't seen yet, so if you've already seen the combo cards it's possible to reach the same final board without their effect resolving or by ignoring Beyond and going straight to Apollousa to play around Nibiru.
