Notes & Combos

This list is what I used in my D1 to M5 run as I was tilted by the amount of Maliss players. I'm putting this list since it's technically the list I used to reach Master V. Most of my climb is done before the release of Regeneration of Stars. For my D5 to D1 run, I was using -2 Meowls, -3 Lancea, +1 Fuwalos, +1 Ultimate Slayer, +3 Triple Tactics Thrust.

This season is slightly more difficult due to more players opting for end board with targeting protection, Ryzeal players are still setting up Photon Blast Bagooska for whatever reason even after Maliss became stronger. I've seen some Maliss players setting up Transcode Talker, not sure if this will be the go-to for Maliss going forward. Just have to hope I open Droplet in these situations.

I might add Red Reboot if I continue to face a lot of Maliss.

Ultimate Slayer vs Gordian Slicer

Most Maliss end board put up 2 on-field monster intrruptions, e.g. Apollousa, Allied Code Talker (before activating GWC/March Hare). With Ultimate Slayer, you are relying on seeing Ancient Gear Fortress to deal with Allied Code Talker and ignore the Apollousa, whereas Gordian Slicer can hit both monsters. Against Ryzeal, it can hit Cross, which comes in handy if you don't see anti-backrow cards. Though, Ultimate Slayer can negate Cross by sending Aggregator. Personally, I'm sticking with Ultimate Slayer because I'm reluctant to invest in Gordian Slicer and I like to draw cards.
