Notes & Combos
Started playing master duel a month ago and reached Master V with this budget Enneacraft deck. Experimented with many tech cards in the process of testing this deck. The EC core is strong on it's own, but would often run out of steam if going 2nd against full-power Elfnote. Needless to say, I am looking forward to the upcoming banlist taking effect Nov 4th.
Basic strategy: Max out your searches and then mulligan with EC Reverth. Stay sneaky and minimize info shared with opponent. When searching level 9s, try to use 2-3 different cards so opponent can't play around it. Search release early in case you get hit with Droll. The whale is your MVP but needs Reverth in GY for opponent's turn. Usually a good idea to return it to your hand or pendulum zone after it triggers. Definitely run 2 field spells so you can knock one out if it gets negated or replace it if it gets banished.
Weaknesses: Purulia, Droll, Evenly Matched, and Maxx C. Try to play through and establish at least 3 monsters or you'll probably get rolled.
Going first: If you go first and can establish a board as simple as Vanity + Tail + Pixea you will probably win. Also nice to summon LEON before searching so that you can pop back to hand if needed.
Going second: Sphere mode is your best friend. If I could, I would include at least 2 copies. Draw handtraps are much more impactful than single target negates. Forbidden droplet is strong with this deck as you often end up with expendable duplicates, used searchers, or draw cards during your opponents turn and can discard spells with useful GY effects. Solemn accusation addresses archetype weakness to negating certain spells/traps and can swing the game in your favor for just 1500 LP.
Extra deck: Doesn’t matter. Just throw 15 cards in there that have useful effects if opponent destroys or banishes them. Or put your shiniest cards in there to flex on your opponent when they rip it up.
Why a 50 card deck? The EC core is strong but unusually robust and a 40 card version either lacks search consistency or can't run enough tech cards to fill the gaps.
Honorable mentions to the following tech cards: Fissure, Crossout, Timelords, Neko Mane King, Deus X, Book of Eclipse, Bettan Bat, Nibiru, Sol and Luna, pot of forbidden, Evenly, and Daruma.
