Notes & Combos
Hello kings!
I reached master 5 in master duel using red dragon archfiend magistus, and at this point, I’d say the deck has more going for it than what most people actually think when seeing the deck. The core idea is simple: savage dragon synergises smoothly with spenta and RDA. Once spenta is in the grave, you get a free artemis equip, and that turns savage into a to a negate setup. of course thats considering you draw the magistus cards. But still that single interaction carries a lot of weight for us in my opinion.
magistus naturally bridges into the centurion engine. If you open spenta, you can end on blazar + savage + phalanx as long as you’re running gargoyle. I keep wake up in rotation because it synergises well with magistus lines. Once spenta access in GY, you can make savage with wake up + primera. foolish burial also becomes another enabler since it lets you send spenta to the grave. gargoyle and wake up both have their place depending on how you want to route the turn. I know people think turn one blazar is unrealistic, and they’re not wrong. wake up also becomes clunky if you’re not running phalanx since it limits what you can do. The list’s still being tuned. Im trying one soul during droll format to reduce choke points, but it didn’t work out as what I intended it to be. I’ll probably return to three souls.
zoroa also remains a hard choke of the deck. Most routes still rely on the normal summon, which limits flexibility. crimson fixes some of that since it opens stronger 2cc, but it’s still not perfect.
crowley is a garnet. You never want to draw it, but its level 4 makes it playable when paired with crimson. The odds of it bricking your hand are low enough to justify keeping it though. Overall, the deck has solid potential. The only real flaws are normal summon overlap and slightly weaker grind potential compared to centurion.
chaos angel barely came up, and supernova looks better than it plays( ^○^ ). Both can be cut, but I'm never cutting supernova don’t worry.
The main combo is straightforward. spenta adds zoroa, you normal summon zoroa, equip artemis, special spenta, search crowley, summon it, then use zoroa and spenta to make savage. Equip artemis from the grave for a negate, then equip zoroa to a monster with spenta, make chorozo, then finally primus for centurion combo.
The deck’s not perfect, but the synergy between magistus and red dragon archfiend is REAL. It’s relatively consistent, it forces interactions, and it has synergy with your RDA cards, so if you open 2cc and one of them gets disrupted you can play through it.
