Notes & Combos
Preface
The tech choices I made in this decklist came from a place of frustration, because I would either brick because I didn't have the right attribute in hand or I only had extenders in hand and no way to interact with my opponent on their turn 1. I'm pretty sure many of you will think the choices are less than optimal and maybe they are but I'm cutting myself some slack. I stopped playing masterduel for almost 3 years-ish. My last Master Rank run was with SwordSoul in season 24, Dec of 2023. With that being said I came back June 12th and decided to play Vanquish Soul K9 and as of June 29th only made it to Master 5. I think this deck can get to Master 1 every season in this Meta. After the Banlist and into July I'll do my best to prove my point true.
Main Deck Tech Choices
-
Kurikara - Fire Attribute and fills the "Bomb" role for the deck.
-
Skull Meister - Dark Attribute, was tired of Branded and Kewl Tune getting their GY effects off with no pushback. It ended up being a nuisance to my oppenents of other decks too, so he earned his keep for this season, we'll see if he stays next seaon.
-
Magnamut - Dark Attribute, Mainly to banish Albaz, also searches Ceasar
Extra Deck Tech Choices
-
Vanquish Soul Rock - It extends the utility/advantage of Hollie Sue combo line of SS Razen (Pop) into Valius (Pop) Attack during Battle Phase then MP2 into Rocks for one more Pop (you have to use Valius or Hollie Sue to overlay into Rocks for Pop Effect).
-
Tiras - Its purpose was to turn into a Non-targetable and undestructible Zeus overlay to wipe board after using Lupis to quick xyz turn 0 but it either got stopped before becoming Tiras, or Tiras was removed before my turn. It worked once, maybe twice. When I did get to turn Lupis into Tiras by the time the turn ended I felt regret beacuase it might have been more useful as a N.As.H Knight. Tiras is on the chopping Block.
Conclusion
I did notice a consistency increase but obviously not where it would be if we had Razen, Jiaolong, and Stake Your Soul all unlimited.
I really enjoy this deck, this is my first time ever piloting Vanquish Soul and there is a learning curve but I think playing made me a better pilot overall. Its the same feeling I got with swordsoul really teaching me interaction timing, resource management, and patience (not shotgunning handtraps).
Pins section in Vanquish-Soul channel on discord or Dkayed's video has all the combos and gameplan/wincon.
