Notes & Combos
For Season 30, Rescue-ACE remains as the top deck of the format (at least until Fire King Snake-Eye rears its head) and I was very glad to pilot it again for a massive win streak in Diamond. Had the pack not come out, I'd most likely take this deck all the way to Master V so I'll just post this over my FKSE deck.
Once FKSE comes out, Rescue-ACE is likely to adjust to counter an archetype that deals with its backrow so easily, so that'll be an exciting challenge for the remainder of the season.
Why did you bring Elf back to the ED?
I still think Elf is very mid but I was impressed by how Gargolo used the PSY-Framegear Gamma bodies to make Elf which protected the R-ACE monsters from early Imperm / Veilers, so I decided to do the same since I was already running Gamma.
It rarely comes up but it is the best use of the bodies generated by Gamma. Elf is also useful in making high ceiling link boards like Elf + I:P + S:P which can deal with certain decks better than the normal Link Toolbox board.
The alternative would be running Sunlight Wolf (which was what I was running before I switched to Elf) since it recurs R-ACE names like Turbulence or Air Lifter back to hand while also enabling I:P endboards.
What's with the Impulse?
I'm running Impulse as a way to search boardbreakers and handtraps via Fire Attacker. Since I'm on Droplet to counter the multitude of Horus decks on ladder, it was a good choice at the time. I'll most likely keep it unless I need more non-engine choices that counter FKSE.
Diabellstar discarded by Attacker can also special summon herself and set an OSS for my turn, thus making her similar to Fire Engine in a way.
As for ratios, I've been a proponent of 2x Impulse over 1x Impulse since it is a decent card to open as long as it is not in multiples, though I don't completely hate running 3x Impulse.
