Notes & Combos
Hello if you are reading this!
I have climbed to Master V with Sky Striker (again)! Even though it did not do well for me last season to get to Master I, I wanted to run it back with the mecha girls.
Overview on Decklist Choices:
The decklist retains most of my deck philosophy for this meta, which was a going-first deck with marginal hand-traps to address prevalent power spells and traps which this deck in particular struggles with (Dracotail, Mitsu, Odion, etc.). Droll and Lock Bird was a new addition which I think really helped me against matchups such as Ryzeal, Onomat, Mitsurugi, and Lunalight variants.
Soul drain is an absurdly strong card right now: a floodgate that shuts down monsters in the graveyard and banishment, which is especially prevalent in Maliss, Lunalight, Dracotail, Mitsurugi, Orcust, Fiendsmith, etc. As long as you have follow-up, Raye being inert in the graveyard is a worthwhile compromise. You do not have to run it, of course, but it is a worthwhile addition.
Evenly Matched appeared in a couple of games, and it was handy in them. It is cuttable, though, as it does not increase going first odds.
No Double Cyclones for my list, as it generally hampered going first, and my piloting against Dracotail has gotten better to where I did not require it.
I run two Roze since it could start plays, and insulated the risk against banish disruptions. Cyanos is very playable, though.
Regarding extra deck choices, I tended not to run Super Polymerization and its targets as it did not suit my playstyle and restricted the extra deck for me. It seems to be a strong card, though, and worth considering. Each Striker card had a use (maybe except Kaina). S:P Little Knight was very useful as another form of removal, and can link off stolen monsters. Evilswarm Exciton Knight did not appear in my games since it was never needed. I am not sure if I will keep it.
Overall, it was an extremely smooth climb! I had multiple 5+ winstreaks, even a 10 winstreak to Diamond I. My worst matchup was Odion, since I do not run that much backrow removal, if at all. This deck is very rewarding and leads to fun interactable grind games that I generally do not get to witness since I play shameful Cyberse decks that are OTK or nothing. It is pretty vulnerable to Ash Blossom and Ghost Ogre sometimes, however. Ace=Zero especially had gotten hit with so many Ash Blossoms it was ridiculous.
