Notes & Combos

Standard Magistus layout for the meat of the deck. The Magistus spell lineup is variable to one's own preference, this is what worked best for me.

Deck Concept: Efficient 1 for 1 trading with the opponent in the non-engine allows the Magistus core to whittle down resources.

Deck Goal: Establish board presence and retain a Zoroa in hand for next turn. This is done simply by opening Zoroa + a level 4 spellcaster.

Method: Normal Summoning Zoroa, equipping Artemis, Special Summoning the level 4 spellcaster, and Artemis searching Zoroa gets you a rank 4 or a level 8 synchro every turn.

Notes:

  • Not retaining a Zoroa in hand for followup will result in many game losses unless going all-in is absolutely necessary. The primary loop is what results in victory, not the endboard.

  • When encountering Maxx C in draw phase, which should be a common occurrence now due to Kashtira's existence, often committing just Endymion, searching Zoroa, and using Endymion's second effect cycling for better handtraps is adequate.

  • D.D. Crow is a controversial pick given Bystials exist, but it is preferable to effectively trade against as many decks as possible instead of hard-focusing Tearlament. It is beneficial to have cards that are more widely applicable in many different matchups and D.D. Crow while being great against Tearlaments, is less potent, but more widely applicable than Bystials in other matchups.
