Notes & Combos

What a nice feeling to not face Bystials/Tearlament everywhere anymore. Climbed from M5 to M1 in the span of a couple of hours over one day. Anyway, let’s get to the deck:

Gameplan

  • You make Ruler and pair him with other cards depending on the scenario: Mirage Lights, Orange/Green Light, Apollousa, I:P, Pain, Phul
  • If you don't go with Ruler, you have Diviner as a potent NS to be more resilient/explosive sometimes.
  • Going 2nd, play your hand. Think about trading cards favourably and try to navigate to a certain goal while keeping your options open as well as you can. These options include: Natasha, Zeus, Ruler, Pain, Borrel...
  • It is crucial to know how to get the most out of your cards, so I would advise you to not learn any strict combos, but rather the flow of the deck. Ex.: you should always be aware of the resources you got for a turn – how many Drytron names can and did I access? How can I tank disruptions? Bait? There are many niche scenarios that decide a game, solving those comes with experience.

Discussing some cards:

  • Drytron engine: mostly standard, could add 1 Beta, I always prefer 2 Meteonis over 1, Quad > Draconids this format imo. A lot of decks nowadays tend to set up a lot of permanent backrow. Still, the most common use of the Drytron ritual is for its name/typing.
  • Megalith: not a main goal in this deck, but nice in the grind and when using Diviner
  • Heralds: Orange/Green Light are cards I did not run before – and both did well. Having the option to insulate your lines or add disruption that is not on the field is handy.
  • Pain: Huge card, despite me not using it often. If your opponent makes you go 1st, you search this as they play Mikanko and skipping their BP is huge. This always negates Noir, too. So, sometimes you can try to sneak in Pain while they have Noir.
  • Droll/Kurikara: both nice this format, Drytron synergy being lv 1, Kuri is a Fairy
  • Lava Golem: Shout-out to all the Purrely guys leaving lv 1s on their board. Also, why do their players suck so much at using Noir vs Drytron? Jokes aside, great card
  • Ruler: staple of the deck – this will not change with Maxx C legal.
  • Searchers: Jack got better. With Kuri, you can add an enticing card for your opp to add, making it more likely for you to get Alpha.
  • Regarding the ED: I tested Chaos Angel and it barely came up (shocker). Run Baronne. Fucho could be cut. I think Slacker or Nightingale could be more useful. Mirage Lights was great.
