Notes & Combos

Notable Changes From Season 21

This deck was revised a lot because of how hard it is to play cards that deal with Kashtira, Purrely, and Labrynth at the same time. I leaned towards improving my Kashtira matchup going 2nd because they were my most common matchup.

For Kashtira I played the following:

  • 3 Nibiru. Every Kashtira player did the Shangri-Ira then Riseheart combo and played into this.
  • 1 Kurikara, 3 Small World. Kaiju also works but Kurikara also deals with Shangri-Ira in the EMZ so you don't have to worry about triggering zone locks with Small World.
  • 1 Herald of the Abyss, 3 Thrust. Thrust is live as soon as Shangri-Ira activates. Talents and Raigeki are considerations, but Talents needs Zeus and I will play Herald before either because of Purrely Noir.
  • 2 Impermanence

Gamma is sometimes an out, but usually when Arise-Heart is alone or no card is banished facedown in the previous chain - otherwise Shangri-Ira will chain block Arise-Heart's mandatory effect. This is a total of 13 outs going 2nd, for a total of 83% to see at least 1 in a 45 card deck.

For Purrely, Kurikara and Thrust overlap because Noir activating the draw effect from Sleepy Memory counts as Noir's effect. A total of 8 outs for Noir in 45 puts the percentage to see at least one at 64%. Another gameplan is to prevent Noir as well so I played 14 handtraps in 45 to capitalize on opening 2+ handtraps 50% of the time. Imperm, Gamma, Veiler, Ash all contribute to preventing Noir. Nibiru can help but will always require another handtrap to either keep Purrely off My Friend or after My Friend is triggered.

For Labrynth, I played Ash and Duster. Red Reboot is another consideration. Duster is the most searchable at 4 copies and only takes 1 deck slot since Thrust also does double duty vs Kashtira and Purrely. Red Reboot is still strong and you can play it over Nibirus if you see more Labrynth. I value Red Reboot and Duster more because it deals with Daruma Cannon, Punishment, Field Spell, and floodgates all at once.

Matchup Breakdown (113 Duels; 59 Heads, 54 Tails)
  • 27 Kashtira (23.9%, W/R = 67%)

  • 14 Labrynth (12.4%, W/R = 57%)

  • 12 Purrely (10.6%, W/R = 75%)

  • 6 Mathmech (5.3%, W/R = 50%)

  • Runner-Ups: 5 Mikanko, Runick & Dragon Link, 4 Traptrix, 3 Tearlaments

I waited for Flames of Fury to arrive before starting my climb. Kashtira being the most represented is no surprise. My winrate going 1st was 76.3%, and going 2nd was 59.3%.
