Core concept is unchanged from last month. Please read that and check out my October deck discussion video as well as the replays if you need extra references.

This was also the list I used in the October Duelist Cup (rank 3901).

A slight, purely experimental change in approach. Instead of 3x Succession, I went with 3x Memory and 1x Succession. Every now and then, I put E-Tele in my deck and sigh as I remind myself that I cannot use it to SS Maximus from the deck. A grave injustice. Then I invariably remember that the Mekks do have an E-Tele; it just unfortunately xenolocks in a self-cucking way (due to how Girsu's token is named).

But the more I thought about it, the more I felt that it might just be better to fully embrace the xenolock and try to have a spare Mekk/WL card in hand for the Morning Star discard so that I can at least set up a negate. I still use Memory as an extender in the purest sense: Hit by Maxx C on Crusadia summon? Chain Memory, go into Morning Star, discard a Mekk, trade a draw for a negate. Girsu dies hard to Imperm, so let me just SS Purple from deck and go into Morning Star. And if I don't have anything to discard? Then I bricked and was screwed either way. In comparison, Succession can't save me from a potentially turn-ending Imperm.

I have no experience with other decks, but this feels like how meta and rogue decks compete and play through disruption. The Crusadia engine alone simply cannot achieve this. We need an E-Tele, Komoney. But for now, Memory is fine. It is simply an "Emergency!" button, teleporting a Mekk onto the field to let me salvage some semblance of a board.

Thus, Memory helps improve consistency in a rather gimped way...in practice, I think the xenolock functions more as a ceiling cap than an actual hindrance since I'm always turning to it only as a last resort extender. If I don't need Memory in the opening combo, then I'm more than happy to set it alongside Secret for an extra negate on my opponent's turn. This can sometimes lead to two Purples returning on Turn 3, which I have found to help actually close out games a lot more effectively than multiple copies of Succession ever did.

That said, I'm just testing this out and may revert next season lol. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. It feels like both Crusadias and Mekks just get bottlenecked so hard on the NS; a weakness really exacerbated by the uptick in standard HT package usage across all decks (Maxx C, Ash, Imperm). Why, then, was Girsu at 1 for so long while Cheesecular remains at 3? Lol Komoney.

Other changes:

  • 2x Red Reboot in place of 1x Maximus and 1x Droll. Imperm on Girsu is just too painful...and Runick players are back in force. If I'm able to get the Girsu combo off, I can still remove their backrow with Lib/Unicorn/Accesscode. It's not ideal, but I think the drawback isn't as bad as I initially feared.
  • That -1 Maximus does hurt consistency a little, but I feel the 2x Red Reboots saved a lot of duels that would otherwise have ended with a single Imperm. The alternative is to simply remove Veiler and bump Maximus back up to 2, but then I lose one of my best SW bridges as well as a very decent HT for counterplay. Tradeoffs.
  • TTT: Always solid, great for stealing Ariseheart into Zeus, etc. It's definitely a better pick than Crusadia Power in the 40th slot because it doesn't only work with 5 of my monsters lol.
  • Zeus is back in my ED because of all the Runick decks everywhere, as well as the aforementioned TTT play.
  • 2x Morning Star instead of 2x Magius because I sometimes failed to get the former's search off the first time and needed the 2nd one on turn 3, and I never did use the 2nd Magius. Kash opponents always banish Dingirsu or Zeus for some reason.
