Notes & Combos

Decided to take Heatsoul all the way to the top this season. While the deck seems mostly the same, a single card gave the deck a massive boost: link decoder. While on other cyberse decks decoder is used so that splash mage makes terahertz or that its just an extra body on top of all the bodies they're able to put out, for us getting +1 link materials is huge since we make very conservative, low investment plays, so a free extender in the extra deck goes a long way. Because of this, boards with just heatsoul become transcode heatsoul, making it much trickier to out and almost guaranteeing good followup, and transcode heatsoul becomes firewall heatsoul or firewall transcode.

Let's talk techs: ash maxx veiler standard. No imperm because it conflicts with heatsoul draw during opponents turn. Bystial druiswurm is very versatile; link mat, gorz, beatsick, no regrets. No Nibiru aswell as its high risk high reward, going first it wipes our board in the process and I rather play the most generic handtraps that are live as much as possible – for this reason I play ogres since it has wide coverage and wiping out bodies in a simplified game state is very impactful, which this deck often finds itself in. Belle is a solid handtrap, worst case it'll shield you from called by the grave or a bystial when you're trying to make pushes. Mourner is just another decent handtrap. Also, I cut monster reborn for a 17th handtrap being droll. This is because I found myself having too much engine, and I would've kept reborn if I could cut any of the engine that I've got, which is already bare minimum. Droll, while powerful, I find to be a bit of a hit or miss. That's why I opt to prioritize more reliable HTs. Duster is a solid one-off, talents are great since we chew through interruptions, and scolding is an awesome card which, if we draw, raises the ceiling by a ton. Believe me: it isn't win-more.

Looking at the engine, it is standard heatsoul stuff, but trimmed down to accommodate a small mathmech engine that purely exists because it let's you play without committing to normal summon, which means you can spill your hand onto the board if needed. Double transcode for the grind, comes up often, especially if crystal heart gets negated then you link into transcode anyways. Light dragon is an odd one i put in last minute for link spider, as I don't rly care about nibiru. Crosswipe is searchable spright smashers at home, very underrated imo.

I've got a new replay vs JPN name, which showcases the decks ability to go second and otk through critical chokepoints where other cyberse decks would fail, and also an older replay vs Ky_Mk which is at the bottom of the list

Enjoy! :D
