Notes & Combos
Another month, another Master 1 finish with Unchained (for the 5th time this year)! There are no changes to the decklist I used last month, so instead, I’ll yap a little over some of the common matchups :
Kewl Tune : by far, the most exhausting and frustrating deck to play against. It doesn't play into High King Caesar's effect, and going second against them is an absolute nightmare.
- However, Abominable is usually the MVP in this matchup. It allows you to get a pop right at the start of the Chain Link, letting you destroy the Kewl Tune spell — or if they activate its effect, you can just destroy their new Synchro monster. On the other hand
- if you are going first, simply don't let them stick a body on the board; just pop their monsters immediately using Escape or Bao and control the rest with high king.
Branded: The main issue with this matchup is that they can effortlessly break your board using Fallen of Albaz's fusion effect or Super Poly. On top of that, they have a million ways to summon Albaz during your turn to interrupt your plays.
- one clutch play that really helped me out is holding Sharvara in hand while keeping a DARK, LIGHT, or an ED on the field. When they summon Albaz and activate his effect, I just chain Sharvara to pop my own monster. Since most Branded decklists don't run a valid Fusion target for Sharvara, their biggest threat completely whiffs. As for the rest of the deck's interactions, I find them pretty manageable and easy to play through.
- And keep in mind, the only way to out Dogma in this deck is by dropping Santa Claws on it, or by crash into it with Luce.
That wraps it up for this month! Note : I use the same decklist in DC
