Notes & Combos

Played Kashtira Mimighoul to M1 This is my favorite deck by far, and I’ve been waiting a long time for it to arrive in Master Duel. While it’s by no means a meta deck, it can absolutely steal games from unsuspecting players. I played with this varient for my whole climb spending some time testing both Fiendsmith and Purrly options.

Kashtira is currently the best variant, though that may change once Yummy hits Master Duel. Unicorn consistently adding Birth is incredibly strong in a format dominated by Fiendsmith players. The ability to reliably Proc Unicorn on Turn 1 shouldn’t be underestimated. Unicorn is arguably the best mimighoul card.

I’ve really enjoyed using Silhouhatte Rabbit — not only is the Statue a great card, but the backrow pop effect from Rabbit itself is impactful. In this format it hits key targets like True Light, Sangen Summoning, Branded Lost, Mementomictlan, and many others.

Accesscode Talker isn’t necessary, but it’s been great before we get Ripple Bird, especially since some board states are otherwise hard to close out. Trap/Stun decks have always struggled going second, and that remains true for Mimighoul builds. However, the Tactics cards help, and having Kashtira bodies also gives a chance to deal with Apollousa, which completely shuts down most of the engine cards.

There’s an argument for running the Fiendsmith engine, but I think most decks are already prepared to play around it. Many tech choices are designed specifically to beat it, and it folds even harder into Maxx “C” and Droll than other options.

As far as the Mimighoul cards not included in this list — like Fork, Charm, Cerberus, and Armor — they’re either not good at all or fall into the “win-more” category. Fork could be a potential option if it didn’t give the opponent agency in choosing which effect resolves. I really want to make Charm work, but in the scenarios where it's actually live, it's usually just pushing an already winning position. We also lack a consistent way to trigger it in most hands — I might revisit it when Ripple Bird is released, but it likely won’t see play.

Cerberus is the weakest Mimighoul — its flip effect is underwhelming, and its protection ability doesn’t really stop anything relevant in the current meta. Armor comes the closest to being playable at 1, but it relies on already having another Mimighoul name, which makes it a risky extender and more likely to brick the hand. Its main use would be as a backup search target for Dungeon, but it doesn’t meaningfully improve the end board in most cases.
