Notes & Combos
Inspired by peanutjam & quazeryon, I decided to try this deck out, because it looks fun and very skill - dependent. It is not an easy deck at all, it can brick and reasoning can backfire. On the other hand, that makes it very rewarding.
That being said I am stil new to this deck, below is my experience.
For the decklist, I suited it to my style, I like magician's souls because it is a monster, and I found out that the worst hands are the ones where you go first with no monster access. In addittion, it can act as a starter with sussurus, or just help dig, bait ash.
The biggest flex spots are desires, and the impermanences. I tried vision at 2 & 3 but I play awkwardly when I draw it. Even when I used it to discard rollback e.g. on purpose, I would randomly draw called by. Traptalizing is a decent alternative, haven't crafted it though. At any rate these spots need to be some sort of ash bait.
For the extra deck, the only flex spots imo are the 2nd saint azamina and maybe the synchro package. I tried curious and it was ok - but felt more win more. I haven't tried zombie vampire and sometimes missed it, but other times you are already under fuwa so it wouldn't help much. Theseus could also be cut, but not when kewl tune is this prevalent. Also it can come up sometimes against branded. Little knight is a must, I cannot play this deck without it, I make it almost every single time I go first, unless heavily handtrapped.
As for the matchups: The deck can go second well, so even without handtraps believe in it. The only matchup I hate and is almost impossible to break going second even if you open nuts, is maliss. That is the only scoop I'd make going first without impulse. But sometimes they do misplay their interruptions - is it worth the 20 minutes ? - not imo.
With kewl tune, when you go first you know it is kt cause they handtrap you to death, veiler, ash and/or belle is a good sign of this. Thrust to barrier is a safe bet. But also try to get determination and/or debtors , depending on where sinfuls are located. The deck can easily enter grind mode with these cards.
Against branded, if you have impulse I recommend holding it for your turn as a surprise factor unless they are going for a double lvl8 synchro play - in which case use it against the ecclesia synchro. Watch out for fallen & the virtuous specialing saint azamina to their field - we don't have many outs to that besides a second saint azamina into azamina.
