Notes & Combos

After quickly reaching Master 5 with this deck, I felt comfortable with it and wanted to try pushing for Master 1. As previously explained, once I had reached Master 5, I made some changes to the deck by reducing the number of Chaos Hunter to one, given how easily it could be summoned with Mannequin Cat, and to reduce the number of bricks. I also increased the number of non-engine cards by adding Dominus Impulse, which is one of the best non-engine techs against Maliss in this format.

Everything was going smoothly until I reached Master 3, where I began to stagnate. I decided to make further adjustments by replacing the Swap Frog engine with the Millennium engine. Surprisingly, Swap Frog became a liability due to Lancea, which most players now main because of Maliss. The Millennium engine not only addresses one of this deck’s biggest weaknesses, the reliance on Normal Summon, but also serves as an excellent starter to bait handtraps, provides free bodies to help extend plays, unbricks certain hands, and even helps identify the opponent’s deck so you can adjust your final board accordingly.

I also replaced Dominus Impulse with Fuwa, which seemed like the best option in a meta where few handtraps can effectively counter Maliss, especially considering that Fuwa can still be used alongside the Millennium cards.
