Notes & Combos
The Maliss hype has put this deck way under the radar. Hand knowledge, deck knowledge, removing problematic cards like Droll Nib Spoly with Minstrel is just Chef's kiss
- Going first with this deck is almost a guaranteed win because no one knows how to interrupt it (Lancea does nothing to this deck, and people usually waste their Imperm or Veiler on Neptabyss which does next to nothing)
- Going second with this deck I usually drew into at least 1 Handtrap, and if I didn't had pretty decent chances going second. This deck isn't in love with going second but it has better chances than most (Poseidra, Infantry, Abyssrhine, Sekka's are what you want to see going second)
- I love Sekka's Light. Not only is it a +2 and a mulligan but its also very important for when you draw Coelacanth to put it back into the deck. Drawing that card is not great, and when I did lose games it was because it was stuck in my hand or Lancea stopped the Sekka's mulligan. Abyss Keeper was just not worth summoning most times.
- I was running only CBTG and Sekka's but kept dying to Maxx C and Fuwa so I started running Crossout around Master 3. I cut the third Poseidra the storming Atlantean and did not really miss it.
- Speaking of hand traps this deck insta dies to Droll and Nib. Coelacanth plays around Droll, and he is the best extender going second so I tried to save the Abysshrine effect for as long as possible.
- Honestly? When testing this deck I wasn't sure I would like it, but it ended up being one of my favorite decks of all time. I'm usually more of a control guy than a combo guy, and while this deck has a somewhat linear combo getting there is fun and did not feel boring at all.
I starting tracking games in Master 4 or 5 so if you care
- 52 games 32-20 or a 61.54% winrate
- Maliss 14-5 or a 73.68% winrate
- Format was actually kind of diverse? Reminded me when Purrely was tier 1 and everyone was running Thrust and Herald. I did not see a single Snake Eyes deck (besides a Meta Pile) which was very refreshing.
