40c Crusadia World Legacy: "World Legacy's Finalit-i"
Some people have been asking for a more competitive/"serious" version of my 60c World Legacy pile. Now that the 60c version is more or less stable, I've finally had the time to take a 40c version to M1. Well, this will never be "serious" without using other modern archetypes, but my conclusion is that 40c is definitely stronger (more viable). I managed 5-winstreaks in M3 and M2!
I am not a fan of this particular build because it feels more Orcust-heavy than before. The number of Orcust cards hasn't changed, but it only really made sense to cut down the non-essential non-engine as well as the dupes of Crusadia main deck monsters.
- Crusadia count was at 15 primarily to make up for the lack of starters in WL for a 60c deck. There is no denying that it is much better to open Girsu/Draconnet than 2 Crusadias or 1 Crusadia + 1 normal summoned handtrap
- That said, the Crusadia special summon from hand is still a crucial extender that helps play through disruption or achieve a higher ceiling
Consistency
With this 40c version, I get the "1A" starters, Girsu and Draconnet, 57% of the time. Including the "1B" starters Harp/Cymbal/Burial (also "1-card" starters, just not as high ceiling or requiring more discards), that's 74% chance of an independent starter in hand.
Then adding the 2c combos (Crusadia NS or handtrap + Crusadia/Succession), total consistency sits at 88% if my math is right. If wanting 90% consistency, drop a HT and add 1 Crusadia, for example. I think 88% is already a solid level of consistency, and more non-engine is better since the deck still cannot play into boards at all due to lacking "free special summon" extenders.
Non-engine
At 40c, I see the essential non-engine way more often. Maxx, Fuwa to stop the opponent, as well as CBTG/Ash/Crossout to allow myself to combo. As far as "competitive" play goes, this is even more important than raising consistency from 84% to 88%. I certainly felt the difference in actual gameplay; with 60c, opening just a Droll or Veiler going 2nd is usually just an automatic L.
I think I should have swapped 1 Red Reboot for 1 Purulia. That 1 Droplet, well, it could have been Puru or 2nd Belle, but I was just thinking about hand quality and having more live cards with more versatility, since Belle itself is not THAT decisive even though it's good.
"Hand quality"
That said, it was to be expected that I would get the starters and non-engine more consistently with 40c instead of 60c. The main thing I wanted to test was "hand quality," or how it would feel drawing the bricks more often. After all, the point of going 60c in the first place was to dilute bricks like Deus and Justicia.
In my opinion, there isn't that much of a brick issue after all. You want to discard something for Mermaid or Gala-i anyway. In several cases, it's actually more beneficial, too:
- Opened World Chalice? Instant Lib access
- Opened Mind Meld? Don't even need Girsu access now
- Opened Orcust Knightmare? Don't even need Mermaid now
- Opened Deus/Justicia? Ok, dead card, but need a discard anyway.
In sum, it probably turned out to be a non-issue just because the 1c starters are so much more available now. It doesn't feel bad having 1-2 dead cards in hand if the starter is also there, and it is likely that 1 of the dead cards will actually be a beneficial discard.
Misc.
The only other notable change is Crusadia Spatha out for a 2nd copy of Lib. I'd always wanted this 2nd copy for follow-up; since the Crusadia count has dropped significantly, Crusadia openers are a lot less frequent, and so Spatha is no longer worth carrying just for those few instances where I can do Crusadia opener + still have enough extension to go for the highest ceiling Spatha line.
Beyond that, the build is the same, the lines are the same, and only the ratios of various cards were changed. See the previous posts linked below for proper in-depth write-ups explaining the deck concept.
40c is probably the better version to build off. I think it performs at a higher level due to superior hand quality. This "higher level" is still pet deck level, but I think it gives you a better chance in general. I am glad to have been able to verify its performance.
Now that 40c is done, I will probably revert to 60c. The last thing to test before retiring from M1 climbing is whether I can do something with Mekk-Knights...let's see what happens.
