Notes & Combos

Pretty much the same build as my M1 deck submission for last season. Only changes are:

  • Ratio of Apophis traps went from 2:2 to 1:2. I'm now firmly of the belief that either 1:2 or 2:3 are the optimal ratios
  • That 1 extra card space went to a Super Poly
  • ED changed to accomodate Super Poly targets. Got rid of most XYZs since they hardly saw any use

My personal thoughts on certain cards I commonly see in other builds:

  • Impulse: Too risky. Why run a card that can potentially shut off your entire engine
  • Songs: Too risky. Why run a card that shuts off nearly all your other hand traps as well as Anubis
  • Evenly: I get it, I hate Dracotail too. Also a good card in the mirror match. But I personally don't like running cards that are only good on turn 2
  • Temple: Almost always a brick in starting hand, and using it to extend turn 1 plays via Apophis Serpent is greedy in my opinion, because it basically means you don't care about Nib, which this deck does not have an answer for

Didn't play this in Diamond, only in Master. W/L record with this deck from M5 - M1:

  • 30-8 going 1st (79% winrate)
  • 23-23 going 2nd (50%)
  • 53-31 overall (63%)
