Notes & Combos
The climb to M2 was pretty quick. Going from M2 to M1 was absolutely ridiculous because of the amount of times the deck bricks or gets a weak hand vs any good hand. I had to adjust my deck a bit in order to hit M1 and this is what felt best to me.
2 Borger feels great. I hit M1 back when VS first released and with VS K9 it felt bad at first not being able to bounce by monsters back to dodge targeting effects.
Dogoran is there for element and also for the off hand chance you’d be able to kaiju then use Mad Love to bounce back it back to hand (or one of the opponent’s monsters at least) since it has a lower defense than pretty much anything you’d play in the deck.
I only added droll after reaching M2. It wasn’t needed until then. I did play called by earlier and while it can be good, especially against droll, I don’t feel it’s worth. Just always make the first card you search for be the most valuable for the turn. I can’t tell you how many games in a row I searched field spell and got droll’d. Hollie always takes priority if you can use it with your hand.
Ty-Phon actually did get me a win once. And there was one rare case where I was able to get both Ty-Phon and Zeus on the field to activate Zeus without being negated so it has it’s uses.
Overall, while I find the deck fun, it’s just not consistent and I really don’t like that. Unlike other new decks at release, the mirror matches are mostly dice roll unless both of you open good hands. Lack of consistency just feels bad considering the effort needed to play at a higher level. The ceiling can get stupid, sure, but I’d rather play something more consistent. Gonna try pure VS for awhile to see how it compares. The hands where I only ended on a pure VS board still won games.
All the ED monsters are great imo but SP didn’t come up. Saryuja is the goat for bridging into VS if you don't open any.
