Notes & Combos
A late gift from me to you. Don't usually play themed decks around holidays but already did Memento for October so why not do Starry Knight for December. Named off the popular Christmas song "Silent Night" Starry Knight consist of level 4 fairy light monsters that all try to summon the boss monster of the deck "Starry Night, Starry Dragon". Although the support is there the boss monster effect is very lacking as it's only disruption is when summoned from the hand is to pop 1 card on the field. Should know by now that is not enough in modern yugioh so thats where the different engines come in.
But first let's talk about the starry knight cards. The sr starry knight monsters are a mandatory 3 of since they help search out the spell and traps of the archetype. Ciel and flamel can be cut but I did find uses for them quite often so it wouldn't hurt to play one copy of each. Balefire is a 3 of since it is another searcher and can special summon starry dragon from the hand from the same search which is a plus but that means it can be negated with impulse. Starry Knight Ceremony helps us summon our starry dragon from the hand and Starry Knight Arrival does the same thing but also allows us to return Starry Dragon to our hand.
Now let's quickly talk about the different engines I used. A more detailed explanation will be in the vod:
Primite: Fun to use Seiyaryu but beryl and the starry knight cards fight for the normal summon so it was quickly dropped.
Regenesis: What got me to master rank and was very decent until dracotail started flooding the ladder.
Bystial: Can be used with regenesis and fiendsmith. Has cards to counter a wide variety of decks and a bystial + starry knight fairy = Chaos Angel with both effects. Some decks do not have imperm or a kaiju so you can just stall and win through deckout or get your full field set up.
Fiendsmith: Very good against dracotail and another great engine that does not use your normal summon a lot. Tried playing santa claws earlier for Lunalight but I rarely saw them on the ladder during my climb.
Voiceless: Literally played a version of it today at the time I am writing this. Probably the best way to play since there is synergy with balefire. Lo does compete with the normal summon but sometimes you may not even have to summon lo to start the voiceless combo.
Overall, a deck that I see plenty of potential but needs engine(s) to reach that potential. Glad I played it for December though.
