Notes & Combos
The Princess finally gets her Crown!
Pretty smooth climb! (With the exception of the times you just lose the coin toss to Elfnote/Synchron etc a few times in a row and there is no real game to be played)
With the limit to vision and chant this season I decided to play Vision at 2 (even before the ban list to be more in line with what it would be going forward). Only change after the pack was adding in Forbidden Crown (which is a very nice card in Striker, but more on that in a sec)
Card Choices
- Desires x3: I previously thought Desires at 3 was overkill because with all the draw power in Striker you are SO likely to see multiple and diminish it's value. However with only 2 Vision and no Upstart I found that to be the case far less often. It's much less risky than some believe it to be, but you DO have to account for banishes (double lemnis or 2-3 copies of widow/linkage) and play accordingly
- No MST: With 2 vision, a 2/1 ratio was not ideal imo and even though it has some spots it's awesome (like the mirror or picking off Branded Retribution), it's far less likely to see when you need it with no chant and 2 vision (and less likely to see duplicate vision)
- Cross Out: Not perfect but it was nice. Mostly I just wanted insurance that Zero would resolve vs Ash/Belle but often it had great value in Mirror vs Engage or to stop some common tech spells
- Belle over Droll: There was SO much Branded, I wanted just a fair 1 for 1 that would guaranteed give me value every game and not be a terrible top deck vs KT. Droll is of course strong when it's strong but is SO hit or miss
- 1 Crown/2 Droplets: Crown is awesome and I wanted to play more but I liked my list as is. Droplet is the best out to YOU getting crowned (as well as cross out for Cronwn), and right after release I expected a good amount of Crown to be around. You could def make room for 2nd/3rd crown
Matchups:
- Compared to Extended RT package, this deck had more trouble going 2nd into the Mirror without the abundance of MST and Desires hurt the grind game vs Branded
- On the plus side, the small amount of one for one handtraps + Desires made a lot of half boards VERY playable and you could overload Ash Blossom quite easily
- A lot of combo decks rely on Charmies/Droll, which this build felt very good against mostly. Droll on Desires is immediately a 2 card differential
As always, let me know if you have any questions!
Replays
Every season I upload my M1 run (and sometimes Rated matches as well) to my youtube channel with annotations explaining my thought process! Please check it out if you have the time or are curious about the deck! This season's will be up within a few days!
